For every exercise, the synergistic muscles are presented in a list.
Does the order of the list indicate how important each muscle is to the exercise?
Sorry if silly question.

Difference between shoulder press and military press
ExRx gives different muscles for the barbell military press and barbell shoulder press, suggesting that they are different. However, for the barbell seated military press, it gives the same muscles as it does for the barbell shoulder press. What's more, for the smith shoulder press, it gives the sam...

What is a synergist?
According to ExRx, a synergist is: A muscle that assists another muscle to accomplish a movement. For example, during the dumbbell curl, the biceps is the target and the brachialis and brachioradialis are synergists. However, according to the NSCA's book Essentials of Strength Training and Condition...

Re: Anterior deltoid and the lever seated fly
"Anterior Deltoid is only a weak synergist during transverse flexion but not transverse adduction, meaning the shoulders need to be internally rotated." Thank you for the reply! Do you mean the anterior deltoid is a weak synergist during transverse adduction but not transverse flexion ? Shoulders ar...

Anterior deltoid and the lever seated fly
Why is the anterior deltoid not a synergist in the lever seated fly when it is a synergist in all other fly-like exercises?

Why internally rotate shoulders for dumbbell fly?
For the dumbbell fly and lever seated fly, ExRx says that you should internally rotate your shoulders. Why? I thought it was to better isolate the pectoralis major; however, according to Wikipedia's Chest Fly page, if you internally rotate your shoulders, your anterior deltoids get more involved: "T...

Re: Why are there 2 different hyperextensions on exrx.net?
Thank you for making it clearer! The directory is sorted by body parts, not by exercises, so this is actually done often. Look and see how many times deadlifts are listed. I found two deadlifts. One says it targets your glutes, and the other says that it targets your erector spinae! /W...

Re: Why are there 2 different hyperextensions on exrx.net?
Thank you for the reply, but I am even more confused now! Hyperextention is listed twice because people us them to train different body parts. Both are correct. How can one exercise be said to target 2 different muscles? It can be said to target both muscles, but not one muscle on one page and...

Why are there 2 different hyperextensions on exrx.net?
Hi to everyone! :thumbleft: This is my first post. Got 2 quick questions. 1) As I was going through the exercise database, I noticed that there are two barbell hyperextensions: exrx DOT net/WeightExercises/ErectorSpinae/BBHyperextension.html exrx DOT net/WeightExercises/Hamstrings/BBHyperextension.h...
