If you're having problems with your grip going out you might want to invest in some hooks. One of the best weightlifting purchases I've ever made. I agree. I don't care if other people think it's cheating, I can dramatically increase weight and muscular overload on deadlifts and shrugs by using hoo...

I usually do close-grip bench, cable pushdowns and cable rope-splits. The rope splits I do with lighter weight to isolate the medial head. I'm pretty sure that's overkill, so I do all three of those together only twice a month. Your elbow is a simple hinge that moves in one plane of motion, so any e...

I have to bolt out the door at 5:00 A.M. to get any time at the gym (having a 1 year old mixes up the schedule a little). Anyway, I have about a 25 minute ride, so I wolf down a banana, snack-box of raisins and some variant of a Kashi bar on the way. I usually wash all of that down with black coffee...

Caffeine

After reading around 100 articles of varying opinions, I cannot come to a definite conclusion on whether caffeine will inhibit the full benefit of creatine. I have seen improvement on creatine while simultaneously taking caffeine, but I wonder if I short-changed myself by not taking creatine alone. ...

Opinions on Cell Tech creatine?

Going back on creatine after a month, I decided to try Cell Tech since my freind raves about it. First of all, 10g per serving seems like an excessive amount, and 75g of sugar with 300 calories would give an insulin spike to a Water Buffalo. It's tough to stay around 2700 calories a day, especially ...

Update

So I'm 2.5 weeks into my stong-range partial experiment. Perceived or actual, I've been feeling stronger this week and couldn't resist seeing if any improvements have been made in full ROM. 1RM Bench press: 235lb. (up from 215lb.) Pull ups (unassisted): 9 (previous best was 6) Preacher curl: 90 lb. ...

Creatine Ethyl Ester

A pimply-faced sales weasel at the local GNC was trying pushing some new creatine product to me yesterday. When I explained to him that I was cycling off creatine this month, he told me that it is unnecessary to cycle off CEE like it is CM. I understand the chemistry behind alcohol-ester chains, and...

Ice cream is my Kryptonite, and five years ago (and 50 pounds ago) I would eat a bowl every night.

I usually eat a small bowl of Kashi (Go Lean) cereal with skim milk to keep me out of the freezer. High fiber content, around 11g protein, and it's pretty low in sugar for a decent-tasting cereal.

Well, I certainly think they have a place, especially for breaking through a plateau, when used in conjunction with the regular ROM of that lift. Most PL types I know, and even some OL types use them as assistant exercises to the lift they want to improve. Tim After doing some research on neuro-res...

Strong-range partials...Opinions?

I am trying to break through a plateau and wanted to know if anyone has had success with partial reps. I have heard conflicting opinions from phenomenal success to a complete waste of time. I have also been told to cut my cardio back from 2 hrs. per week to 1hr., but I eat enough to compensate for r...
