Thanks, KPj. Yeah, I'm with you on all the points you've made here. You might call me the Hammer Grip King. I hammer gripped the DBs for a while, then recently tried rotating my hands horizontally on the way up, then back to neutral on the way down. Seems like it gives a fuller , more complete worko...

Okay, after reading these posts I figured I'd toss in my 2 cents as well. To the original poster, I agree with you about the ads regarding the Perfect Pushup. They are incredibly cheesy. While I also am in the practice of routinely avoiding the As Seen On TV! crap, I bought this product anyway out o...

Thanks for all the responses guys. To answer any questions regarding my stats and personal goals - I'm 46, ectomorphic, and training only to stay in shape and not look like most 46 year olds I know. My shoulder vulnerability is, for the most part, hereditary. No injuries, other than some recent impi...

Shoulder work
For general conditioning purposes is it absolutely necessary to target the shoulders with such exercises as military press and DB press? My shoulders are somewhat vulnerable, so I go relatively light on them. Shoulder exercises are my least favorite, so perhaps I'm just being lazy or overprotective ...

Hey Matt, I've been trying to get my wife into our home gym for a while now, and it ain't happening. She's lucky in that she naturally has a nice body (I guess that makes me lucky too!), but we're in our 40's now and I keep explaining to her all of the benefits of working out, and trying to lead by ...

When to change sets and reps?
I'm wondering when the most optimum time period to change sets and reps is. Right now I go for a month in one set/rep scheme, then change to another set/rep scheme for the next month before switching back. I'm looking for mostly hypertrophy and some strength gain. Do you feel that alternating betwee...

While we're on the subject... This is my current push/pull routine. I'm a middle-aged ectomorph looking mostly for general maintenance and some growth. So far this seems to suit me but I'm wondering if it's enough volume. The schedule is simply to alternate push day and pull day, working on Monday, ...

That's a heck of a lot of volume. Are you doing all of these exercises every week, or is this a list from which you'll periodically rotate your exercises? I also do the push/pull routine, but I simply alternate push days and pull days on Mon/Wed/Fri. I love it because it's a great way to organize yo...

Kre-Alkalyn
Does anyone have any experience with Kre-Alkalyn? I'd like to try a creatine product, but the mixed news regarding the safety of creatine mono and CEE has raised my curiosity in Kre-Alkalyn. Any feedback on it would be appreciated.

Thanks TimD, You're right - I should have mentioned what my goals are. I didn't want to post one of those unnecesarily long-winded questions, but I suppose that info would have helped. I'm definitely into this for general health and bodybuilding purposes. Not at all into competitions, etc. Specifica...

Too much variation?
I know that mixing up your exercises is good, but I'm wondering if I'm incorporating too much variation in my workouts to see and feel optimum results. For example, I perform chins or pull-ups in my workouts every Monday and Friday, using a different variation Monday than Friday. Right now, Monday i...

Anyone here use CellMass?
I've read a bit about the stuff, but would like to hear your opinions also. In particular, I'm wondering if CellMass is mostly for the younger guys, or if us middle aged types can benefit from it too. CellMass claims to be good for 'creatine non-responders', and I've tried the standard Creatine Mono...

Can protein supplements cause belly fat?
My goal is overall maintenance with some strength and size increases. Not looking to get huge. I'm doing what I think would be considered an effective and moderate workout - not too heavy or light, full body 3x a week. I'm thin, so cardio only twice per week. I've been supplementing with one whey pr...

2x10 or 3x8?
I'm doing a routine where I rotate rep and set schemes every two weeks. The first two weeks are heavier 5x5s, followed by two weeks of the same exercises with higher reps and lighter weights. During the second, higher rep period, should I do two sets of ten or three sets of eight? Or...will it make ...
