Re: Why you hatin on the Upright Row?
My experience with upright rows are that as long as I don't get narrow, I have absolutely no shoulder problems with them. I have found that as long as I keep the grip width shoulder width and father out towards snatch grip, I'm good to go. Also, why not just do DB upright rows. They work fine.

Re: Bret Contreras Says Deadlifts are Hamstring Dominant????
I'm sure others might disagree, but IMHO, it really doesn't matter which one you use. Slightly different emphasis' but if you're both pulling and squatting, it shouldn't matter that much. I think what matters most is what your main reason for doing them is. If you're into OL, Conventional is your ch...

Okay Oscar. They gone. However, for someone bordering the line on trollism, you seem to be the first to rat on someone or complain on newbies.

Re: USDA Food Program Sucks
Which makes since, Wouter. Young 'uns need the growth contributions of full fat. Why else would nature have made it full fat? Seriously though, it provides the calories needed for growth, plus, it's pretty well noted that full fat promotes anablic mechanisms of growth provided by hormone stimulation.

Re: Evalute My Workout
I don't know if it even matters much. Kind of comparing apples and pears, but here is my .02. My take is the OL types are more quad dominant. OK, let's break it down. In PL, take a look at MOST squat styles. Butt way back, usuall very wide stances. The way I see that there spreading the workload thr...

Re: Belt usage
I started out in an OL style, back in the day. We never used belts for that sport. Reason #1 was that in the clean and the squatting (or split squat, we did both styles back in the day) we didn't really get close to maxes in squats or DL's, and rarely did DL's. Reason 2, the belt got in the way and ...

Re: A hypothetical program
Two or even more adays are really not that uncommon for OL training squads. The key is to limit the volume and intensities within sessions. The US squad goes up to 4-5 sessions/day. Remeber though, most of the programs I am describing are for sponsored athletes, not doing a "regular" life, which inc...

Re: BD's discussionaire
BD and Oscar, if you guys liked the Dog Squats, you'll like this. The dog is a replica of my Ruckus, size, shape, and temperment, ecept Ruckus squirms when you try and pick him up.

BD wrote in his log: Thursday Back Squat BW x 12 15lb x 12 20lb x 8 50lb Springer Spaniel x 8 50lb Springer Spaniel x 5 50lb Springer Spaniel x 5 There ya go! Good job. My 70 lb Pit hates it and squirms a lot when I use him for Zercher squats, but it works much better for me. Using anything for weig...

Re: BD's discussionaire
BD and Oscar having the following go at it: I would imagine you have a bigger bench that 20lbs for 5 if you can fly the 10's for 8. If I pushed myself, I could probably go higher, I just need to pick up some heavier DB's. Also, I could easily be holding back subconciously, in not wanting to injure m...

Re: enough for proper chest development?
Seeing as this has drifted over to delts and OHP, just my .02 on this. One of the best ideas of getting the shoulders up to par was from Doc Squat, where you use DB's, starting with DB's at shoulder level, and pressed up ONLY to head level. Says that's where tri'c kick in, so why not just focus on t...

Re: 2011: Deadlifts, Grip and Presses Log Comments
Hi Wolf. I think it's probably closer to 50-50. If you've noticed, this forum has probably more older lifters than most others, and most of us older guys/gals like me, Doc, Stu, Diana and others couldn't care less about bodyparts, but rather motions, utilizing muscles working together, in particular...
