Leif3141, What is the distance you need to sprint? When I ran track in high school, we trained with resist harnesses. These were heavy, elastic bands around our waists with a short length of rope attached. A person would stand behind you to apply the resistance. After about 10 minutes jogging as a w...

triathlon

Hey Merc82nd, I've done a few triathlons so hopefully this will be some good advice for a beginner. First, what is the date of the triathlon? You say its undetermined...but give yourself at least 3-4 months of training. 2nd, is this a sprint distance? ( 1/2 mile swim...17-18 miles bike...5k run in t...

now that I think about it...when I got over 200 lbs for bench press,
it was with the help of some spotters who really pushed me.
But when I did them alone, it was hard to push 190-195.
So, the psyche-up by those guys gave me really made the difference.

JeffD,

Perhaps not...just a thought. It did help me with lighter weight on the bench press...going from 150 to 175. So, at the weights above 200 it may not help that much.

In the military, its a must to do high reps of pushups, pullups, situps if you want to pass the PT. If that's not someone's goal...they shouldn't worry. Adding a plate to dips or pullups is great ...

Whether you do flys, dumbbell presses...crossovers...
It doesn't matter if you're not lean. Losing body fat is the key to showing off your hard work...the definition you're after.

Hey DubDub, I think you can get to 270 if you increase your pushups max. I was surprised to see you could only get 33. How much do you weigh? If you can get to 50 pushups for one set, then two sets of 30...just a minute maybe 1 1/2 minute res in between...you'll build an extra endurance into your ch...

If bodyweight exercises become too easy you're not doing them hard enough. Hi guys, just new to this. ExRx is a great site. Back to bodyweight exercises. Check out stewsmith.com for some intense bodyweight routines. He's a former Navy Seal and stills trains them along with other branches of the mili...
