Re: John W's Training Journal

Very interesting to come back here every now and then and see where I used to be at! The last 18 months have been pretty good, I came second overall in a local 4 round Strongman Series in 2015 and later found out the guy who beat me (by just 2 points) for 1st place is on steroids so I'm happy I was ...

Re: Weight Plate Substitute...

nice proper use of junk tires ............. I don't know, seems like there's a lot of tread on those tires. Why use tires that are still drive-able? This is pretty old to reply to, but the wheels are off a car that is being restored and doens't need them! lol They're still about 12 months from bein...

Re: John W's Training Journal

Wow it's really been a while since I checked in here! I kept training on and off like the above posts for about a year, but after a while I felt like I needed something that I was more committed to, I changed jobs earlier this year and my work hours changed dramatically. So I'm now doing Cross Fit, ...

Re: Trialling a new program...

Cool, I see what you mean there Dub! I guess I'll stick to this until I learn the movement (I had a couple or reps that were a bit wayward yesterday) and then look at upping the weight and lowering the reps to make it more explosive training with the explosive movement, I'm doing them "as Fast and a...

Re: Trialling a new program...

Dub, if thrusters are not an explosive exercise I'll eat my hat! robertscott I'm glad you elaborated, the 21 reps of deads was wrong, the highest number is 15 in the rep range down to 3 for that day! Also the weightloss with strength maintenance will increase explosiveness, though this something I d...

6 to12 weeks, decreased body fat (diet is also changing), increased explosive power, increased cardiovascular ability whilst limiting joint damage/irritation and compacting work outs into small blocks of time because I'm "time poor" right now! Also I didn't put any thought into it, it wasput togethe...

Re: At home health screening

Sorry to dig up and old thread, but I've always been concerned that the brand Omron is an anagram of Moron! But we have a couple of their products on the hospital ward that were donated, they're regularly cilibrated in line with ward/hspital policy and have so far never had any issues!

Also: Weights are "As Tolerated" and remain the same across the sets, the idea is cardio and strength training combined!

Hi All, So after a few months of Starting Stregth Begginer + Pull Ups I changed to a modified version of the Starr/Mad Cow 5x5 (with 3 top sets so a 7x5 I guess) + Pull Ups. After a few moths off training with serious lack of motivation I've joned a gym (got a freebie through a local community centr...

The emotional side effects of life!

So I was lifting pretty consistently for 8 or 9 months, I was pyshced to be getting stronger, made a slight change here and there to get through some set backs and in general felt pretty good about life! Then I had a pretty traumatic time of things! In the final days of September 2010, a very close ...

Re: John W's Training Journal

Hey guys, did a couple of work outs after the last one I posted, so long ago though I can't really remember what I did as I didn't keep track, I went on to Night Shift a few days later and after 2 weeks of night shift I have been down with some sort of fatigue issue, have managed a couple of games o...
