Ab question

If one of the jobs of the abs is to resist rotation, would it be inadvisable or a contraindication to perform twisting exercises on the rotary torso machine or Russian Twist as examples?

A couple of months ago i was doing hanging leg raises and the next day i had pain in the groin area that felt like the pain i had when diagnosed with a binguinal hernia 25 years ago. This time it turned out to be a groin pull.

My dog has been attacked twice. Both times the owners were walking their dogs without leashes. Fortunately my dog was alright both times.I reminded them of the leash law, but they didn't care. So now, in addition to carrying a golf club for protection, i have a dog horn that is excruciatingly loud. ...

If you were in charge of a fitness center....

what improvements you would make to retain customers or to gain new clientele? From my experience with the chain gyms, many of their "trainers" aren't experienced enough to qualify as competent trainers. If i were to make just one improvement, i would only hire trainers with at least a few years of ...

What plays in my head constantly is the image of seeing my dad's lifeless body on the living room floor. It will be tough to make it through the holidays without him, but i know eventually i will be fine. I worry more about my mom than me.

Thanks.Yes, 98 is a long life. Ironically, my biological father also died of heart-related problems, in the same house, in 1951, in the same room as my stepdad.

Thanks. I found him dead at his house.Fortunately, my mom was out shopping when i discovered him. He may have chocked on one of his pills, but i want to think it was his heart and that he went quickly. He did have a pacemaker and in the past year, his cardiologist recommended a procedure to replace a...

I've just spent the last six hours on the phone with several large insurance companies. All of them told me the same thing, that because of the herniated disc injury, the underwriters will not approve my application. They don't want my money. Now that's ironic. It didn't matter that this injury occu...

Standardized health care for Americans will never be realized in my opinion. I may just have to move out of the country to get health care. Maybe Canada or France. I hear Thailand has good health care on the cheap.

I have been denied private health insurance.

My COBRA insurance expired last month and i had to apply for private health insurance.I applied with Blue Cross and they denied my application due to a herniated disc injury in 2000. Even though the injury was covered under workers comp. Blue Cross decided not to cover me. My back is fine now and ha...

My preferred mode of Tabata is the stationary bike. At least i can control the speed. I just use the treadmill occasionally to mix things up a bit. I normally do the treadmill, bike, cross ramp, and Concept 2 rower as my cross training choices. I usually do each mode for a couple of weeks, then swit...

Lately, i've been doing 8 sessions on the treadmill. I do a 5 minute warmup at 4.0 with a 1% grade, then do 30 second bursts at 9.0, followed by 30 sec. "active rest" at 4.0 and so on. I end with a 5 minute cooldown. The only thing i don't like is the time it takes for the machine to increase to 9.0...
