Rep range & other stuff for old goat...
At the young punk age of 65 I'm told to to rest 3 min. between sets and warm ups, and with shoulder issues etc. at times (most) I have to do several warm ups, and with all that, how the h%%% am I supposed to keep the work out to no more than 45 min. to an hour? I work out on a weider (fake bowflex),...

Re: Rest period between sets for an old [email protected]@@
Also, if I do straight rowing and lat pull downs, then I don't really need to do curls. Right? With that way of thinking, if I do bench and shoulder press, I don't see why I would have to do tries on top of that either especially when doing bp and sp my tris get hammered, and sence I'm doing the sp,...

Re: Rest period between sets for an old [email protected]@@
I guess my goal is what Stu said, strength and power. I work out upper, skip a day, then lower etc. and hit everything twice per week. What hurts me the most is not being able to do squats because of a bad back.

Re: Rest period between sets for an old [email protected]@@
At my age I'm wondering if accessories are even necessary. Like curls, am I not getting that action (or enough) with lat pulls and rowing? Are flys necessary after doing bp, and side laterals after doing the shoulder press? Or, maybe at my young/tender/studly age I need to do accessories with short ...

Re: Rest period between sets for an old [email protected]@@
Hi Stu, I usually rest about a minute, but if I should have to rest several minutes the workout will last forever unless I drop some of the accessories exercises like curls, lateral and side raises, rotator cuff, flys etc. Caught a bug that lasted 4 months and thats long after I stoped drinking beer...

Rest period between sets for an old [email protected]@@

Re: Anyone use foam rollers...
When you guys are rolling, are you rolling very slowly as in creeping along, or passing over the areas at a moderate speed several times? I was told to creep ever so slowly, and it felt like someone was putting a cigar out on my leg/hip. Not much fun.

Re: Anyone use foam rollers...
I use foam roller every time I lift. Back, front quads, IT band, glutes, hamstrings, sometimes hip flexors and inside of leg. Its the only thing that lets me lift. Not due to pain or anything, but because if I don't roll for a while my back and left leg kind of start seizing up and my left knee fee...

Re: Anyone use foam rollers...
I bought one with dvd a few years ago, and used it about 3 times, but pain was a bit intense and I put it away. I'm guessing you have to use it a while before the pain in using it gets standable?Ironman wrote:I've used it a little. I really need to start doing more of that though.

and how did it work for you as in helping with pain etc., and I'm wondering if it could help with mild hip/pelvic arthritis. If I walk too fast in the morning for cardio I pay for it at night in bed. Thanks.

I can't understand why this guy is still aloud to post. Besides the bad stuff that kids shouldn't see on this forum, he's thrown in a racial slur at Oscar.

Re: Shoulder press ok for older lifters, ok old [email protected]@@
Josh; I can very the angle of the fists and lift somewhat with the cables, so I will try that. When I had (have?) shoulder pain while doing BP's, Stu suggested doing more lat pull downs, so I will go back to doing that more and see, although I never really stopped. Stephen; at 57 you're not an old f...

Re: Shoulder press ok for older lifters, ok old [email protected]@@
Was wondering if a young stud of 64 should be doing shoulder presses at all? I like doing them because it hits the tri's so I don't have to also do tri extensions, but this morning I had a little pain in the left shoulder on the first light set. I use a weider max. Thanks. Were you doing the presse...
