thanks for the responses. hard to say if squatting is part of it. but i will get off the foamy shoes -- a bad idea in the first place, i know. i have pathetically inflexible hips, which might have something to do with it. anyways, will get to all of it -- including the incredibly sucky tennis ball t...

i tried this out a few weeks ago. found 1 - 3 to be very easy. my form was strict. 4 was more of a challenge, but certainly doable. not sure how accurate this is as a level indicator. then again, most of my ab work is weighted, and has been for a long time. hanging leg raise with 35lb dumbbell, sets...

sounds like reaction time. a good way to work on this is having athletes run as quickly as possible through forested areas. this challenges the brain with regard to reaction time and will have a lasting effect. similarly, video games have a strong effect on reaction time. 30 minutes a few times a we...

My pods

The past few weeks I've been experiencing moderate pain in the balls of my feet which has now extended to the base of 2 toes of my right foot. I feel the pain (might more accurately be called high level of discomfort) when I step or otherwise put pressure. The background on this is that it began aft...

I think pretty much everything said so far is very valuable regarding motivation. Eat right, find a good partner, accept that drive comes and goes, and be mindful of why you're in this. In terms of the resistance of your lifts fluctuating, it is something to look at, but don't get hung up on it. As ...

thanks...I'll do that. today's been another pretty good eating day. eggs in morn with tuna, small amount of cream, 1 slice whole wheat bread, coffee, 2 slices cheese, veggie salad. lunch was chicken salad--teaspoon olive oil, salt, pepper. black coffee. i'll go for a nuts snack. I realize this is re...

cool- thanks. I'll get some of the vegetables, though probably fresh. any specific recommendations?, especially as to what's "dense"? last time at store, I found myself staring at the vegetable section until, as the old Nietzsche saw goes, the vegetables started to stare back. bought only cucumbers ...

Ok...today was kind of interesting day of eating. Pretty good for the most part, but skewed on account of a late wakeup. Breakfast (more like brunch): - 1 cup of yogurt -- this time it was a 4% instead of 1.5%, the highest fat I could find at the store. 5g carb instead of 15g (which was in the 1.5%)...

thanks for those comments.

I might post another day's eating for more critique. At very least it'll help me get a better look at what's actually going on in my diet (and not what I imagine is going on).

"What do those calories consist of? Their are low fat brands which are loaded with sugar. What do the calories consist of in the whey? There are isolates then you have complexes with tons of junk added into it." The yogurt has no additives. It's Yoplait 1.5% bio "white". It's 113 cal, 8g protein, 15...

Hey Stuward, thanks for the link. Checked it out. Pretty helpful. And KPj, I also take an earn-my-carbs approach. My problem is that I get carried away after a big workout. Actually, the real problem is that I'm not regimented for after-workout nutrition-- not getting protein fast enough, not gettin...

Hi Ironmaiden thanks for responding. Answers and more detail below. "Carbs, what kind of yogurt & what kind of protein?" the yogurt is a plain, no fruit add-in 1.5% yogurt. About 10g protein, and less than 100 cal. Protein is whey, by interactive Nutrition. Lunch - chicken sandwich or tuna sandwich ...

Fat loss dust-up

Hi Been a while since I posted, but I've been reading along. I'm at that fed-up point that seems to come every so often regarding fat loss. I've done an okay (but really just ok) job lately, cutting out sugar and junk carbs. But I need to dive back in and shave off the final 10-15 lbs, to get to a t...

I'll say outright that I'm still learning the DL. However, I feel like your lift looks a lot like mine did a month or so ago when a trainer at the gym I'm at pointed out my rounding lower back. (I was first annoyed by his comments but after talking with him for 10 minutes realized he knew what he wa...

thanks KPj, Today was a lot better. I warmed up with a run and then stretched for a while on the ground. As I did my deadlifts, I paid much attention to form-- sticking my butt out, keeping lower back tense and straight. It forced me to drop my hips into the deadlift and really power my legs to lift...
