Re: Thermic effect of carbs vs proteins

Dang rabbit hole. Okay so if I'm looking for some quick energy before a workout, I eat a pack of Twizzlers - for the sugar and their magical properties. Since oils are more efficient, would it be better to guzzle a couple of tablespoons of olive oil, or are sugars absorbed in the stomach and fats i...

Re: Thermic effect of carbs vs proteins

Yep, that sounds about right. Will have variance based on source (ex: whey vs. steak)

Re: When to Leave Full Body Land ?

Never liked doing full body workouts, always opted for four day splits. I've always had great gains, I only change up reps/volume and exercises.

IMO, it doesn't need to be a sticky. Its active enough to sustain itself.

Re: BCAAs vs whey

Sip on bcaas during workout and take whey post workout. why is that? Because it allows for better performance through more stable blood glucose levels. Also it would be wise to not take along with whey because of competitive inhibition, leucine trumping all other AAs. A summary I wrote on a differe...

Re: Bent over row grip

Doing mixed grip with rows would be difficult and awkward, at least that's the issue I had. Deads with mixed makes a huge difference. Do either all under or overhand. If grips a problem try chalk/gloves/straps or ultimately drop the weight to what you can handle.

Re: Personal Trainers

I second what stu said. I went to my local gym a couple weeks ago to inquire about what certs they recognize. I mentioned I was going for NSCA and the guy never even heard of it (wtf). He told me it would take 2 years to get it (lie). He suggested I go for an easier one, he recommended I go for the...

Re: The 50.00 USD Power Cage

It looks sound, so nice work. But for the added durability factor, I'd stick plate metal on the surfaces that will come in contact with the bar. Yup, I've considered this. Since I'm doing Stronglifts 5x5 and have reset my weights lower, it's not an immediate issue. The idea I guess is you can get s...

Re: Squat critique

Finally got round to filming some squats. The gym cleared just as i finished what i was doing so i snuck in 6 reps @ 100kg just to get something filmed. Not the best angle, but it was the best i could do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5OtrYjlCEI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; All ...

If anyone owns any sort of android tablet (ex: rooted/hacked g-tablet), there is a neat fitness program available for free which you can install: Liftpro 2. It allows for you to basically set up the entire program to fit your likings. When I first got it it was too general as to how it broke down th...
