Re: Steve's Journal Comments

Nice! There's something really satisfying about putting another plate on each side, and hitting it. You could either do a light/heavy or light/med/heavy cycle (see Matt Zito's journal) or an undulating periodization, which uses "waves" of 3 days each (these are not subsequent days, but the day in yo...

Re: Benching using Pullup Strategy

Ken, I think that is as legit a way to progress the lift as any other. Try it and see how it goes. I think I've tried most of the well-known progressions--5/3/1, Undulating Periodization, linear, etc., etc., and have thought of some that I haven't tried. I'd be curious to hear how you do with this. ...

Re: 'spreading the bar' during bench press

I've heard about spreading the bar before but don't know how to do it. Are there any videos showing how? There isn't much to see with this. It's not so much a movement as it is isometric tension. Try using a light band and do a shoulder pull-apart while laying on the bench and simultaneously extend...

I was going to respond by calling you names, but I can't think of any that are bad enough, but wouldn't make my mother roll over in her grave.

It's Pokey. Everywhere. You blunderbottom!

You cannot expect workouts to be good 100% of the time, it is impossible. We all have bad days - Key is to pick yourself up, dust it off and keep going.

Hey, thanks for posting that. I've often wondered what competing would be like, and at this point in my life, other people's accounts are probably the closest I'll come!

Re: Want information on Yoga for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

I doubt that there's any one kind of yoga that is better for RA than the others, but I'd guess that any of them might help. The differences between the different types isn't very clear to me. I'd say, just find a class, try it out for a few times, then decide if it's helpful or not. Might be a good ...

Re: Need help with pulled hamstring

Hey, sorry no one has jumped in here before. I'm very hesitant to give a diagnosis, and encourage you to see your doctor or an experienced athletic trainer/PT. The main point that I'd make is to start very slowly when you start. It's probably OK to do some light stretching each day. Then start with ...
