Ohhhh.... Really good point!. That would have been pretty frustrating to get it here and find it was too tall. Of course, we would have cut it down ourselves, accustomed as we are to adapting and making do, but so much nicer to have it come the right height. Thanks.

Thanks, but since I'm in Papua New Guinea I won't be tempted to buy anything at Dick's or any other sporting goods store! Whatever I guy, I'll buy it on the net, and have it delivered to a man who packs shipping containers for us, mostly with medical supplies, but he'll ship personal items as well f...

Have any of you noticed any brands that are particularly flimsy or poorly-built?

Power Rack comparisons

I'm looking to buy a power rack for a small exercise room shared by several families. I want a simple one, but care about how well-made it is, how durable. I've been comparing racks on line. I live in Papua New Guinea, and can't exactly run down to the nearest Big5 to see what they have. The interne...

Or, just make a big loop in the end of the rope. Run the loop through the hole in one or more of your weight plates, run the handle through the loop, and viola! the weight is attached. I favor a piece of closet rod for the handle. It looks cruder than the PVC pipe, so that just looking at the device...

Stu & Pete: Thanks. What motivates me is mostly feeling good, not like a slug, and knowing I'm improving my overall health. I also need some social interchange when I work out. That's why martial arts were so good "back when." Right now I work out with my son, and that is great. He leaves for colleg...

I'd second what Stephen said, particularly about not trying to go too fast in losing the fat. How one loses his or her fat is an individually genetically-programed thing. Where is the first place you tend to put the fat on? That's probably the last place it will come off. How old is your baby? I tru...

Perer, I'd say I'm either an advanced beginner or an early intermediate lifter. I didn't mention that I'm 55. I've been lifting pretty regularly for 2 years, with a 5-month interruption. I want to stick with a 2-day split. The first 2 days of your suggestion appeals to me (squat/bench/rows then dl/s...

Time for a change

Change has been mentioned a few times lately--change often, don't change just to be changing, etc. Well, for me it's time for a change. I'm tired of my "whole body" workout made up of lots of isolation work. It takes forever to get through, and I'm not making a lot of progress. My goals are strength...

Thanks! It looks like a lot of, ah... fun? Maybe fun from a certain point of view, at least.

I'll PM you with a couple more questions.
