Weight is not an issue here, I have excellent bars and enough plates to sink the Titanic! I stopped loading the bar at 100Kg because something just didn't seem right. Surely my traps are not that strong. The extra weight MUST be forcing bad form. This is why i'm asking what weight other lifte...

Remember that sheer volume isn't going to get you as much power and strength as upping the difficulty. Doing 200 pushups instead of 100 will get you more endurance, but doing clapping pushups, or working up to handstand pushups, will get you more power and strength. Gymnastics practice is also very...

Re: Building strength/power without weights

Yea, sounds kinda stupid, but I like to get out of the gym and unfortunately no one I know likes to play sports like football. So i'm trying to come up with ways to get in like 10 or 20 mins some practical strength ideas, and not coming up with much. Lately I've been taking a 10 lb plate and going ...

yeah it is part of a greek myth i forget which one, as for push-ups they are great and I can easily believe that that guy was able to crank out a ridiculous # of reps with 225# especially if he weighed around there. I did a similar thing in high school my senior summer where I only did pullups and p...

hill running like you run for a prolonged time on a hilly course or hill running as in you do runs up a hill then jog/walk back down and run back up it again, the latter is great for proper sprint mechanics and if done at a high enough intensity will certainly not hurt muscle building efforts. PS HI...

OK so it's been quite some time since I posted on here, coincidentally it's been some time since I actually worked out. I started up again today. Here's what I'm looking at for a "quick" rebuilding plan for GPP/athleticism. This workout I'll do 3x a week. -Complex 1; Warm-up I With a 135# barbell I ...

Is it a sign

I just recently tried to do full body workouts (i've never done them in my life, i've always had one split or another) and I've noticed that even with 3-5 sets and a total of 10 different exercises I still don't feel the same demand as I do with my regular workouts of push/pull (recently a lot more ...

A look at lunges

Does anyone know of any pros/cons to reverse lunges vs. forward lunges (done either with DBs in hand or BB on back) ? I ask this because I've only been doing reverse lunges (b/c they feel more natural to me for some reason) and have noticed that recently when doing forward lunges I have to decrease ...

De Quervain's Yep, that's one of them. And yes, Stu, CTS is a good thought, although people usually complain of the numbness in the palm more than pain. I also wondered about "Game Keeper's Thumb" though honestly mostly because I like the name. be careful about CTS, it is the likeliest but it's oft...

Thanks Stu, that's what I've been doing until I need to switch my grip to something stronger. I guess the difference is negligible which I use after my double pronated grip gives out then? if you cant hold onto the bar anymore switch to the alternating grip alternating which way each hand faces eac...
