Ryan, I agree with what you're saying about lots more weight. I bring the bar way higher than I need to, which means that I should be able to do more weight with less height. I don't need to worry about straps, I can DL 275 with an overhand grip. I don't know how you mean with pulling harder, so as ...

He goes into that at the bottom of the page as I remember. Basically you add one exercise at a time (weeks apart) and gauge the impact on your main lifts each day. If they mess it up, take them back out. You would be surprised at how well those lifts cover everything for a good while. I've been cove...

Others will probably disagree with me on this, but something to the effect of the Rippetoe starting strength workout might be good. That workout is meant to be effective for several months until you plateau out twice and should carry you through to a good level of useful strength. Make sure that you...

Can we have more to go on? Height, weight, previous experience lifting (how long, how much, what kinds for football)? Read over the sticky http://exrx.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4205 and see if that applies to you. If it does, it will impact the workout that would be recommended. Don't worry, these g...

Ok no hits on this so far with lots of views... Either I'm doing something right or nobody cares :-P I am seeing with all of the lifts that the bar seems to be coming up much higher than it needs to. That may be something that remedies itself with time and more weight. I see the olympians on youtube...

I've never heard of a reverse BB row. For more lat involvement, you could consider some variety in your chinup grips. Alternate week to week using palms backwards, palms forwards, palms facing each other (hammer grip) and using palms forwards with a very wide grip like you'd use on a lat pulldown. T...

For example, on a two day split workout, i'm not sure how you incorporate the three routines mentioned into a four day per week workout. That's confusing, I don't understand what you mean. A 4 day split is already demonstrated, and for a 2 day split three times a week, you would have workouts A and...

He has good compound exercises in that will work out his abs and make them strong, there's not much resistance in crunches. If he has access to a decline bench, weighted decline situps would add some real resistance.

Form check on olympic lifts

Hey guys, I just finished recording and posting some more youtube videos. As a refresher, this video was my first posting over a month ago, cleans at the indicated weights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h03vFlwaFkY , while these next two are new and have slightly improved form I think. New 3/4 front...

I'm actually starting to order some personal bumper plates slowly now and keep them at my workplace gym. I probably get a slight break on shipping, because they have to come freight, and nonresidential delivery is cheaper as I understand.

I had one today. I had occasion to work out at Penn State's gym as a guest. They have actual olympic weights and platforms, so I was taking advantage of it. I was doing snatches, and missed a lift (certainly not the first time). What was different was that the bar fell behind me and the top of my bu...

Hamstring flexibility

This is not really a question, more of an experience sharing. I used to have really crappy hamstring and hip flexibility, something to the effect of 3" above my toes for the standing ham stretch. I started doing straight leg deadlifts and RDL's which helped out a lot. Next I moved into full squats, ...

Yes you can work out with an ABxABxx format. Here is a guideline:

As far as being careful with your lower back, it depends on the exercises that you choose.

Hope that helps.
