Difference between twisting sit-up and regular sit-up?

So the regular sit-up works the rectus while the twisting version emphasizes obliques. But does twisting the elbow to the opposite knee really engage the obliques? It seems like such a small and insignificant motion that I wonder how much of the obliques are actually hit.

Correct way to do Russian Twists?

Should these be done in a way that completely prevents any back rotation?

To elaborate, I mean keeping the rectis abdominis and lower back parallel to the ground, only rotating the arms and to some extent, the chest.

Tempo and hypertrophy

Does tempo affect hypertrophy? I'm not talking about the extremes of cranking out reps really fast or really slow, but a couple second difference in reps, such as a 302 compared to a 503 tempo for benching.

BB to DB weight translation

So is there any near-fixed ratio for BB weight to DB weight? I'm just curious.

Hamstring hyperextension

When doing hyperextensions on a 45 degree roman chair for hamstrings, should the back be kept straight, arched a little, or OK to be bent?

Perhaps twisting was the wrong word there. It's basically a pallof press with rotation. I'm referring to this exercise here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oNqNcM6UyU

I'm not sure what you mean by at what level does the movement occur.

Would twisting pallof presses be considered isometric too? It's an anti-rotation exercise but you're moving your torso, kind of like russian twists.

Since we're on the topic of stability exercises, are ab rollouts and dragon flags safe for the spine? Would they be considered isometric exercises for the core?

Box squats

Now that I've learned a thing or two about front squats, I've started wondering about box squats. I know they're geared toward breaking the plateau on the squat, or just increasing overall squat strength. But would they be of any use in an olympic lifting or hypertrophy program?

squat vs front squat

Concerning the lower body, both exercises work about the same muscles, but with the squat you can use more weight. So wouldn't that make the squat superior to the front squat, in terms of building strength and hypertrophy?
