I'm trying to do this mon-wed-fri, and then I lazy around on the weekends. Would it be better to break up the different parts and do it 5 days a week? Input appreciated!

Normally, cardiocascular excercise will help controlling high blood pressure. Try to get some walking into your daily routine. Lowering the salt intake is excellent, also be careful with alcohol. Good luck at the cardiologist's. Make sure to tell him/her all the details about your diet and the inten...

My concern with imported fruits and vegetables is mainly that they are harvested before they're ripe, like Stu mentioned, and not so much that they lose nutrients during shipping/storing. Naturally it's better to eat veggies with less nutrients than no veggies at all. I've read somewhere that frozen...

I just figured the fruits that are picked to be shipped across the world are picked before they're ripe, and are allowed to "ripe" on the way across the sea (and not on a branch in the sunlight). And fruits that don't get to ripe in the sunlight develop lower levels of vitamins. Of course NZ has vit...

We buy apples at the grocery store that are imported from New Zealand, but are very good, and I love apples. Wow, I'm so envious of all the fresh veggies and fruits you have! I get apples at the store and they too are imported from New Zealand... and I'm in SWEDEN! Ok, we do have Swedish appl...

This is a really interesting discussion. I'm struggling with the protein-veggie meals myself, not so much with the protein part though! I get stuck on the veggies. I get tired of the same spinach-bell pepper-tomato-cucumber-mushroom-deal every day. I agree carbs are a huge problem in the western cul...

Thanks for all the helpful replies! I'll just keep on doing it then, since I'm not experiencing any discomfort from it. Except for getting sleepy when I lay on the floor to do crunches and stuff :green: I don't think I'm risking any spine injury since I'm not exactly lifting anything heavy. I have a...

Exercise in the morning

How soon after you wake up in the morning is it okay to exercise? I do my routine 2-3 times per week, and like to do it before I go to work. Usually I wake up, have a glass of milk and then get straight to work. Is that ok or do I need to give my body more time to wake up?

Well, I'm on vacation at the moment (in the US) so working out is not as frequent as it should be. But I'm doing my 20 min lower body, 20 min upper body and 20 min abs a couple of times a week, and I'm also getting my one-hour brisk walks on a treadmill. I'm gonna try to find a place to do some HIIT...

I've joined a couple of gyms in my life, and they always offer at least two sessions with one of their trainers when you start out. They'll give you advice on what to start with depending on what you want to accomplish, and set you up with a routine. They usually take your stats as well (weight, mea...

Fruit contains fructose (sugar) which causes a fast increase of your blod sugar levels. The whole grains in the bread you're comparing the fruit with are slower to metabolize and thus gives a slower increase in blood sugar. Since whole grains take longer to metabolize, you'll feel full longer. Also,...
