Hmm, does that mean that after doing exclusively dead lift variations for approximately two years, I should consider doing some knee flexion type exercises?

What is recommended?

I had the same problem when I started deadlifting, and my wife still has it. Although I started my work sets at 60 kgs (our metric 20 kg plates are the big ones), my warm up sets were with the smaller plates. I just stack other plates and rested the plates on the bar on the stacks. I only needed two...

Cleans - how to incorporate into full body workout?

Hi all. I structure my full body workouts around horizontal or vertical push/pull movements, squats, and dead lifts. I'm thinking about doing some hang or power cleans, but I'm a bit confused as to how to incorporate them. Would you typically count them as a hip dominant exercise, so use them to may...

When first changing over to a full body workout, and after reading this forum a fair bit, I chose standing military presses as I was under the impression that standing was better for recruiting your abs and lower back for stabilisation. Is this understanding correct? PS, I am also wondering if maybe...

Hmm, I did think about box squats a while back. I might give them a go next workout. Two quick box squat questions:- When you hit the box, do you rest the full weight on your butt before you come back up again? Or just touch and go? Does the height of the box matter? No boxes at my gym but I could d...

Yeah I've read that forum before. Think I'll try to incorporate feedback from this forum (go a bit deeper) before I go posting there. I think I may have to drop the weight a bit and focus on going deeper. Which is frustrating because my goal which I've had for ages is to hit 100 kgs, and I'm soooo c...

If you have a back day, I assume you have a chest day? Why not put dead lifts on back day and squats on chest day? There is a benefit to performing a big, compound lower body exercise before doing your upper body (releases testosterone I believe, which will increase the effectiveness of subsequent e...

Oh, and I don't mind the track at all. I have a tragic appreciation of re-mixed 80s tunes.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Re: knees. They can on occasion stray a bit inwards, but I do focus on this and generally keep it under control. One thing I struggle with is reconciling the the "spread the floor" form cue with keeping my knees tracking with my feet. What I thought I saw was that I was...

Form check, squats.

Hi all, As part of my ongoing quest to figure out what's causing my lower back stiffness, I got my workout partner to video my squats. I'd appreciate any opinions on what you see. I've included a warm-up set and a work set (I do 3x5 work sets with 2 ramping warm-up sets). I can see at least two thin...

Advice on dynamic stretches and glute activation.

Hi all, As I mentioned in another post, I am having a lot of trouble with lower back stiffness at the moment. It's only been a problem recently, in the last six weeks or so. I'm not sure what brought it on but it does roughly coincide with going to 3 x 5 (plus two warm up sets) for squats and dead l...

So I was looking at that machine, and fail to see how it is any safer than a normal half-rack. If you get stuck, don't you still have to get it forward into the rack or let it down onto the pins?
