I have no information to back up this hypothesis but I think the strength standards page is for power and Olympic lifts which doesn't include the row. If you want information on relative lift strengths you can look here: www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=1823834 Which follows the press/dead lift/sq...

How's my routine?
I started going to the gym around September 2008 and have kept at it since then. I was a student in college before then and never really could find time for the gym. The most exercise I’d get would be biking to, from and around campus and an occasional game of soccer with friends on Friday. When I f...

You read some chain mail that said aspartame is worse than sugar. It is an urban legend. It is utter bullshitery of the highest order. Snopes.com is a good place to check that out. Aspartame is probably the most tested substance ever because of the pervasive humbug. One of many things it is said to...

How about the fact that lots of carbohydrate foods taste really good? If I haven't had ANY carbs for a while, I just miss how they taste. I just ate an Orea. One. Also, there is a lot of operant conditioning. What did you mom give you as a reward when you went pee-pee in the potty chair instead of ...

Is it this one?Proper Knob wrote:I'm sure i read an article posted in the earlier thread about 'proportional weight targets', the front squat should be around 70-80% of your back squat.
I'll search for the article.

Different degrees of sleepiness have different degrees of "slacking" in my workout that day. If it's not too bad and I haven't been hacking my week with coffee then i'll drink some coffee about half an hour or so before the workout and go with the normal routine. When dealing with little sleep the w...

I hate to go off on a tangent but the amount of time needed for obvious studies always surprises me. Diesel exhaust was "safe" to breath up until around 1998 when the government completed their study and deemed it hazardous to breath.

Max Pull Up + Push Ups
So I've been wondering.... what's the largest number of correct pull ups and push ups you've seen someone do or have done yourself? On the white board at my gym the cross fit people had a range of ~80 to ~50 pull ups . I don't know if they're proper pull ups or kipper pull ups but I wouldn't be...

Ahh yes, the "curl monkeys" ... I do hope no one here gets that joke/reference. Stupidity aside, If you want numbers based on some sort of standard then the 1RPM of curls based on other exercises 1RPM is Dumbell Curl (single barbell) 21% Squat 27% Bench Press 15% Dead Lift Hammer Curl (single barbel...

There's a recipe for a "rehydration" on webmd: http://www.webmd.com/hw-popup/rehydration-drinks?navbar=hw86827 I'm too frugal for sports drink so I make my own which is something akin to the one linked to on webmd. For ~500ml of water I use a pinch of salt, a few pinches of sugar and a small splash ...

I didn't explain the parallels very well. I'll try to reiterate my point more articulately. Take the "average" American, 8 hour job sitting at a desktop typing and clicking away. Throw in 0.5 to 1 hour sitting in the car to drive to and from work. Throw a WiiFit at them and then wow, they go from se...
