Thanks for the quick answers guys - I didn't really mean "calorie-cutting" as in starving myself. I really just meant general dietary improvements and cleaner eating. Recovery time is my biggest concern since I had really hoped to use a barbell complex, but it does seem like it would interfere with ...

Yet Another HIIT Question (YAHIITQ)

Weight lifting and HIIT for fat loss Short version: I lift maybe 3 days a week, and do cardio maybe 2 other days a week. Should I replace the cardio with a barbell complex HIIT, or mix the two, or does HIIT replace lift days? Or, is calorie-cutting enough given my lifting? Long version: I want to i...

I'd thought the Starting Strength novice program only had 1 x 5 deadlifts, so there shouldn't be a third work set. That said, if you're doing 3 x 5 and you couldn't get the weight cleanly for all 3 x 5, I wouldn't increase, it's too heavy for 3 x 5 right now. Stay there and get the 3 sets. bingo - ...

I had no idea that some of you were taking so much fish oil! I wonder if I should be taking more...?

Yeah okay, not strictly motivational, but insightful enough that it keeps me focused.

Isn't that just a trap bar? I would assume it weighs 20kg / 45lbs.

Re: When people have bad form - what do you do?

I started wondering about it on the train on the way home from the gym today, whether I should start telling people that are doing exercises with bad form that they do indeed have bad form, or not. It's not very often I see people doing exercises with form that's so bad I almost feel compelled to a...

Core Training in the WSJ

Anyone see this video/article in the online Wall Street Journal? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704588404575123510044247310.html The article is well-framed but a little misleading. As some of the comments indicate, Kevin suffered primarily from a poorly-designed workout routine, and h...

thats friggin intense, Im gonna try those tonight. it seems like it would be more core than upper back and bicep though It is. The row adds some difficulty and challenge to the plank, rather than this being a good substitute for heavy DB rows. But it's a row. I Kroc Row when I want to pull heavy, I...

For food prep questions, I use the NutriSystem forums. Learned a huge amount by running that diet and taking the fat off my ass. Almost got banned...

Meatout

Check out this proclamation from my Michigan governor:

Michigan Meatout Day

So full of misinformation and half-truths, ugh. I can't believe this is government-sponsored.
