Yea I edited my first post- I mean to keep plates from shifting, not barbells. But I guess that does make sense. I'd be worried though- cause my left side I always seem to push up first, maybe its stronger or something who knows. Very rarely do I keep the barbell at a 180 degree angle the entire lift.

Why is it that people...

Don't like to use the clips on barbells when they are bench pressing. Or sometimes I see it with squats too. To keep the plates from shifting. Is there some benefit that I am missing or something?

Hey yall...thanks for the advice. Everyone's pretty much told me the same thing. Not to ask the girl I know at the gym about her. And to go for it. I guess at first I was a bit worried about being awkward if she says no. But what the hell. Not like I've never looked stupid before! LOL!

Dating advice...

Well, I know this is a man's man bodybuilding forum, but what the hell. This one is gym related. There is this girl that works at the gym I goto. Behind the counter. She's beautiful and for some reason I think she likes me. Now, I'm not trying to sound conceited because I don't know for sure, but so...

What about doing benching on the smith machine? Or some other machine? Might not be perfect, but it does seem to take the pressure off the wrists, at least for me.

The only thing between your iliac crests (the part of your pelvis that you are concerned about) and the world outside is skin and subcutaneous fat. You can't make your skin thicker, so that leaves the fat. I can't imagine wanting to add fat, so my advice to you is to accept that you won't be the ne...

No offense taken. I guess I should reiterate. I'm not like skin and bones. Its just when I am like laying town and my stomach is already spread (as opposed to sitting when its all bunched up and can make a thin man sorta look fat). I'm not a stick- I have some muscle, wouldn't mind putting on more. ...

This is probably an odd question...

But umm...I want have my waist not be so bony. LOL. Like right below the stomach and above the thighs, on the sides, my pelvic bones or whatever you want to call them are very sharp. Heh. I used to be chubby and it wasn't a problem. Now that I'm thin, most of me is pretty toned but these bones reall...

Question about bench press and my leg workouts

Ok, first and foremost, why do people at the gym put their feet up on the bench when they are bench pressing? Does this have some benefit that I am not aware of? I wanted to ask here before I tried it. Also, on a typical leg day I do squats, deadlifts, either rear lunges or step ups, and calf raises...

I def agree with this topic going on. There's one guy in particular that's bad at my gym. He started talking to me in the middle of lifting...boy I was annoyed. I try to go in, do my thing, and get out. I'm too much of a wimp to go over and flirt with the women. But I might take a glance but try my ...

2 questions...

First off...I have read these two claims on several random websites. I know that doesn't make them true, but I thought I'd come on here to see if anyone else confirm or dispute them. When it comes to dietary fiber, I have heard that say if you were to take a, I dunno, a potato, and look at the nutri...
