I have never heard of planks. I guess I will be back to doing step ups, lunges and leg presses. I really like doing dead lifts and squats but I like having a pain free back more.

I usually aim for 1.5grams/lb, but recently have dropped protein intake to a gram a pound and I am still doing good in the gym. I really wish I knew what was required to eat for optimal results.

Thank you. I recently started doing dead lifts again and the pain returned. I was doing fine for a couple weeks using a sumo stance and I managed to get back up to 225lb. The pain came back and I could not do anything but lay on the bed for a week. Sharp pain in the lower back is not fun.

What are the ideal macronutrient ratios when bulking/cutting

Just wondering wondering what are the optimal ratios for bulking and cutting. Right now I am cutting weight. In May, I weighed in at 231lbs and now I am down to 201lbs. I looked at my ratio last night and I have been doing 50p/35c/15f. I still feel strong and both my dead lifts and lat pull downs ar...

I am in my 20's, also. I think my hips may be too far forward, which caused me to put stress on my lower back. This is just my speculation though after reading a few articles about correct hip posture

Just an update: I found out that I have a degenerative disc between my L4 and L5 vertebra. I think it happened because of squatting, but I am not sure. I gave up squatting and I am now using the leg press and dumbbell lunges.

I appreciate your help. I have been training the squat for over a year and only about 4 months of dead lifting. I started dead lifting after my squats and its kicking my butt. I usually do not have enough energy to put any real effort into my dead lift. Its hard to train both in same week, let alon...
