Re: Deadlift technique?

I usually keep the upper back neutral and the lower in an anterior tilt. Andy Bolton wrote an article on it here He says to keep the shoulders "loose". In other news, I see you're from Serbia. I've never been there, but I've spent some time in the Balkans region (Kosovo, Macedonia, Alabania, and Gre...

Re: Random crap

Take a look at Jason's blog. Besides pondering a 439 power clean, and the idea of DLing 635 for reps, you have to see the video that he posted. http://www.nunnsperformancetraining.com/2011/05/5-25-2011-cleans-and-deadlift/#disqus_thread" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Thanks Doc! Re: Peter's MMA & Weight Training log discussion

Peter, just read your write up on Planet Fitness and couldn't agree more. I feel like these sort of chains actually hurt people more than they help. I'd be interested to see their member retention rates. I'm sure it's pretty low. Renting equipment to people (gym memberships) isn't helpful unless you...

Re: Using a split program as a beginner

I never use a split program for beginners. Actually, I've been training for about 18 years now myself and I rarely will use a split routine. LIke mentioned above, I feel like you can accomplish alot more that way. As far as weight gain, I read something in an article (I believe it was Wendler) that ...

Re: Personal Best Log

Sorry, haven't been on here in awhile. I've had a very busy spring thus far. Anyways, I'm 4 days out from a big pro/am in Scottsdale and was getting in my last lifting session. The weight felt great, so I decided to go for it.

349 Clean and Jerk

The technique was ugly, but I'll take it!

I love them as well. It's one of the best core workouts you'll get. As far as tips, keep your stance narrow (hip width) this may be tough to get used to, but your speed will improve immensly. Also, invest in knee sleeves (if you don't already). My knees tend to fall into valgus collapse when I'm fat...

I agree. Maybe I mistyped it. I like adding in the trap bar because it (like a deadlift) minimalizes the eccentric, but isn't as difficult to recover from.

In my experiance, deadlifts have been very hard for inseason athletes to recover from. I would suggest either dropping them all together and adding in some extra posterior chain work or doing them with high handle trap bar. Jason Ferruggia actually wrote something recently about this as well. http:/...

Digging the yoke walks! I really believe it helped my squat as well. Stuart McGill actually did some research a while back for the NSCA on the yoke walk and other strongman man events and the impact on the core musculature. Interesting stuff.
