Pistols are a beast of an exercise. I personally like them more than nearly any other leg movement. The core strength/balance component of it is icing on the cake. I can wax poetic all day on pistols. I just wish everyone would do them... It's also one of the few exercises where holding a weight in ...

I recently came back from a doctor's visit and according to "the charts" I am considered "overweight" for my height (5'7", 152lbs). I believe it's complete bunk and if the study is based on a chart similar to this, I'm not sure what to make of the results. If you saw me in person, I think "overweigh...

sprained wrist. what to do and how long to heal

I sprained my left wrist pretty badly going for a diving catch last week. The sprain is on the top on the wrist (palm facing down, it is the area around the circular bump). I was wondering what types of treatments you guys have used to cure this? I have most of my motion back but I cannot position m...

"I want to get a little taller so I'm laying of standard deadlifts and squats. " That's pretty much false. I would definitely do deadlifts and squats. Since it seems you have avoided them, I would start off with a very light weight and progress when you feel comfortable, probably find someone who's ...

Training without equipment

I am headed to Europe this summer for an internship and backpacking for 2 months. However, I want to stay in shape and not lose a step in both upper and lower body speed and power. Here's my lower body plan (which I think is solid) Pistols (15 on each leg) immediately followed by explosive lunge jum...

throwing a football = sore rear deltoid

Just a random question for today. I've been throwing a football for a good part of my life. My arm strength is decent, but nothing spectacular. No 50 year bombs from me. However, after a long throwing session, I usually have a sore rear deltoid the next day. My throwing motion is pretty decent. Quic...

Dips seem to hit my shoulders (front deltoids) harder than anything. I'm not exactly sure why. I am using one of those lifted chair/dip things. Is it because I go down too far? I figure it should hit my chest more.

Weight Lifting with a cold

I haven't been training for the past 2 weeks because of spring break and now, I have a pretty nasty cough. My question is, have any of you trained with a bad cough before? I have no fever, my appetite is still good, and I don't have any fatigue to speak of. It's just I have this bad cough that sprin...

Beef Jerky

What popular brands do you recommend? I have found that it is a perfect study snack as I can easily bring it anywhere and I like it.

The only brand in my University Center is Oberto. I can probably head over to Wegman's or Walmart or SuperFresh to pick up some other brands. Recommendations?

Recommendations on beef jerky?

I don't have a Love's truck stop. Right now, I'm just munching on Oberto, which seems to be the most common brand.

The fact of the matter is the university is producing countless number of people who are not prepared to get a job that is sustainable. These people invariably come from places other than science majors. My university's accounting school would like to have a word with you. On average, they make mor...

Malcolm Forbes said "Education's purpose is to replace and empty mind with an open one." I take that quotation to heart. If I just want academic education, that's essentially vocational training. Why don't I just go to one of those technical schools I see on TV and learn my job? Because I don't want...

You're reasons to go to school are flawed. I don't go to a University to get a job. I go to school to grow as a person and to give me a few years in my life where I can learn about myself and other topics that I couldn't learn if I was out of school. As to white people not being fit...please. This h...
