Re: What to do when you reach your size goals?

I didn't think that was possible? There's always a weakness to work on. I know I could be working on my calves my whole life.

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

Same. I don't see any negatives about carb cycling for the rest of my life. Allows an enjoyable social life too!

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

It was the last few days before a holiday so I went pretty drastic because I wasn't noticing any real side effects from long fasts and training. It's probably the equivalent to Ironman's 1200 as he is a lot bigger than me though. I remember NightFALL also doing a PSMF type thing as well which was es...

Re: Caloric Intake/Cutting

I was doing fine on 800 cals a day for a last min cut with up to 22 hour fasts (Whey, multivit and omegas). My strength wasn't affected, reps were always low and calories/carbs were increased at weekends so more like carb cycling. The effects you're experiencing sound like me when I first trained lo...

Re: Get rid of belly

I'd exclude all grains, particularly wheat. Also, the eating before you go to bed thing isn't a problem. I have dinner about about 22.30 every night, after getting in from work, going to the gym, having a shake, waiting to get hungry and then cooking it's always around this time. If you're eating th...

Re: For those who have done it the right way for a long time

Sugar free mints and chewing are essential for me due to my ketone breath up until lunch time! Mint's are better though because of the havoc the chewing gum creates in my stomach expecting food. I forgot the medical term for it causing bloatedness/gas but some medications can also cause it, chewing ...

Re: Random crap

Anyone (UK) watch "Then Men Who Made Us Fat" on BBC 2 last night? We could be getting somewhere here, Gary Taubes was even in it! Here's an article about it.. It will be on BBC Iplayer if anyone else wants to use a proxy or something to watch it http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/jun/11/why-our...

Re: For those who have done it the right way for a long time

I find fasting the easiest way to cut calories, just nothing to it at all. If anything it's hard to get the required calories in if you're maintaining.

Conversion of fatty acids to glucose

The question whether even-chain fatty acids can be converted into glucose has a long-standing tradition in biochemistry. Since the glyoxylate shunt is absent ...

Re: Carb Back Loading - John Kiefer

Sounds pretty much what I do except I have low gi carbs during the week and go nuts at the weekend with my refined stuff. I don't think I need any more high GI carbs during the week.

Re: close grip bench

I haven't pressed in a while but I remember close grip weight was like 50% - 60% of my normal bench press weight. I do these with dumbells at the moment and did 10x10 the other day, my anterior delts were so painful the next day but at the time it fatigues my triceps.

Re: workout "window"

I used to worry about these things so much, eating enough before a work out and the moment I finish training drinking a shake. Since not noticing any difference in strength between fasted training, no carb training and training with carbs I've stopped caring. Usually I'll have meat for lunch and a s...
