When I moved into my new place a few weeks ago I wanted to do a walking meditation every morning when I got up. Well, I did it a few times, but it's really damn cold in the morning now, and I had been sleeping later and later for a bit so I stopped. However, I started volunteering at the animal shel...

Curious about circuit training
So, this is an area where I have little knowledge, but am curious about incorporating it into my routine, but not at the cost of strength gains. Is it possible to do traditional weight lifting one day and then circuit training the next day, using the same groups of muscles and so on? or is that too ...

Looking for a stretching routine
Was curious if someone could help me out and give me a full body flexible routine, preferably as short as possible, and with the most effective method of stretching (dynamic, ballistic... whatever it is, it's been awhile since I've read up on stretching). Thanks, I had been doing yoga, but can't fit...

So I tried it with a wooden stick at the gym today. I think my grip was not wide enough. It was quite wide, but I noticed my hands wanted to move out further, so I let them. It went a little better this way, but even with an unloaded bar I could only manage a couple reps at most. I seem to have bala...

Have problems doing the overhead squat portion of a snatch
So I am trying to incorporte the snatch in my routine and was working on the progression for it, the only problem is it is really difficult for me to fully squat with the bar over my head. Is this a flexibility issue?

Yah, I've only been able to add 5 lbs for squats, and have been doing 10 lbs for deadlifts. I might be able to add more with squats now that I'm only doing them once a week, but I doubt it. Don't feel like I really need to. I add 5 each time for the upper body too. With the Turkish get ups, I figure...

Thanks doc, that makes a lot of sense. I remember wondering why SS had the 1 set of deadlifts, I figured because it was on the same day as squats. At what point should I start moving doing on sets for deadlifts? Does that also apply to Romanian deadlifts? And why not also squats? and so on and so fo...

I had that though too doc, but my thought was that 95%+ of the strength gains from lifting come from that first set. So, wouldn't I be shortchanged myself by not lifting as much weight in that set as I possibly could? An acquaintance of mine was sharing his current program with me, and I got some go...

I had one other question that I forgot to ask. I notice that for a lot of my lifts, I can't do 5 sets or whatever I'm shooting for after the first set. For example, with pullups, Monday I did 7, then 6, then 5. I typically rest 4 minutes between sets, but on Monday I tried a 6 minutes rest for those...

Assuming you're talking about rolled oats, the easy answer is yes. In fact muesli contains raw oats. I used to mix raw oats into my protein shakes for the fibre. Make sure you take them with liquid of some type. On the other hand, there is contorversy about the anti-nutrients in grains. Usually coo...

I have been following something close to the routine I originally posted for a bit. I'm noticing some lower leg pain, possibily shin splints from using the treadmill, so I'm taking it easy. I'm also wearing vibram five-fingers--so that is something to get used to in and of itself. I haven't done HII...
