I'm not quite where you're at, but I can relate to an extent. I have a friend with whom I've more or less always tried going to the gym with. I wasn't serious until about 1.5~2 months ago, and I kept starting and stopping several times a year. I'm not blaming him for my mistakes, but the thing is, I...

Managed to squat 100 kg 3 times last friday. I didn't want to do the fourth rep for safety. Also doing sets with 110 kg deadlifts as of yesterday, 3 x 4-5. I had to skip one day with deadlifting, and the extra rest seems to have made my grip better(Which was my weak point and why I couldn't go up fr...

Confusing isn't it? The answer is "yes" and "no" although not necessarily in that order. Carbs, fat and protein all provide energy and all contribute to muscle building. In your example, you excluded fat. This is a big mistake. Protein is essential but so is fat, particularly saturated fats. There ...

Diet, strength training and cutting fat

Yes, I know, this is my second post in relatively short time, and my last one is still on this page. It's just that there aren't many sources on the internet that are as reliable as this one, and some questions are just too specific to be googled(Believe me, I know my google fu). The first question ...

Thanks pdellorto and stuward, I think I'll keep doing what i'm doing then. Icedane, I don't see any lowerbody work so I assume that's another workout. . What do you mean? Or is this what you edit was directed at? Regarding the chinups - are those really *that* good? I don't really do any BW exercise...

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I thought I was just being a bit of a muppet. I'm a pathological perfectionist at times, and often feel the need to assure myself that I'm doing everything the best way I possibly can. I think I'll just continue with my plan as it is, but I have a few other quest...

Hypertrophy vs. Strength Training

I have been lifting intensively for about a while now, high-intensity, low-rep workouts, and I have seen, and continue to see increases in strength(Even big leaps). It's wonderful. However, I've been researching a bit, and I found out that training for maximum hypertrophy is/might be different than ...

Low volume is just one approach. You will find other methods as well. It's a pretty good approach for starting out, beginner through novice. But the main complaint about it is that after your body adapts, you will probably require 2 or more work sets of that exercise. Kind of depends on you Now let...

Low volume training - really?

Hey guys - let me just start out by saying: Thanks for having the best site(hands down) for information about weight training, and thanks for having the best exercise directory on the internet. So, I've been reading your site, soaking in the knowledge like a spunge, and I was pretty surprised when I...
