Re: Personal Best Log

After doing the rack pull in for two sets of 4 with 220 kg, I realized I was about 5 kg away from doing sets with 500 lbs. So I went ahead and threw 5kg on.

Rack pulls: 2 x 4 x 500 lbs.

I love rack pulls.

Re: Pull-up Challenge, 2012

You can put me down for roughly shoulder-width pullups.. Max was 8 reps today, so let's go for 12.

Re: Pull-up Challenge, 2012

I'll do a max test tomorrow. I'm not sure if it will be representative of my real max since I'm probably still recovering from doing rack pulls, rows and pullups yesterday(monday), so I'll probably try again next monday, before doing rack pulls. I'm thinking my max is about 8-10 at BW 205.

Re: Deadlift Form

It definitely does sound like a good way to address the issue. The general advice on any lift, when it is being done wrong, is to drop the weight and focus on form. High volume deadlifts will also give you some good mass. In my experience, nothing builds back mass like high volume deadlifts. There i...

Re: Sævar's log

I haven't missed a workout, but I can't be bothered to post them as there's nothing really special about them. Today, however, was great. 30-01-12 -- Monday Rack pulls 1 x 06 x 60 kg 1 x 04 x 100 kg 1 x 04 x 180 kg 1 x 04 x 200 kg 2 x 04 x 220 kg <-- HELL YEAH! BB Rows 1 x 04 x 60 kg 2 x 06 x 80 kg ...

Very cool. But it seems you can use curd or sour cream instead.

Skyr -- have you heard of it?

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you had heard of Skyr. You see, I am from Iceland. Yes, that's where my weird name comes from if any of you had wondered(the one in the title of my log). All the big Icelandic guys, including Jón Páll, eat(or ate) a bunch of this stuff; this much I can guarantee. ...

Re: Random crap

Thanks for the advice. I have to admit, I hadn't thought of it that way. I really need to do that, yeah. Now that I'm switching gyms, I'll be working out with some people I know and that may help get me fired up. Regarding the rack pull; yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't find it unlikely to ...

Re: "The Year in Strength Science 2011" from SS

A very good read. It is presented(by the author) in a manner that makes us less educated people understand what the studies were about and what practical impact they may have. One quote in there really made me laugh: That’s right: Rat squats. The authors used an apparatus that was first described in...

Re: Random crap

I read KPj's "Thoughts on personal training" and read that he had had a hamstring tear, something related with deadlifts. If someone like KPj tore a hamstring pulling weights around the same weight I'm about to pull, it makes it that more daunting. But I know that if I let this affect me, I will ha...

Diet advice + good diet planning program/website?

So, today as some of you may have read somewhere, I tried deadlifting 200kg as a 1RM attempt. It failed horribly. After even sleeping badly, dreaming of deadlifting going wrong, then scaring the $h1t out of myself by reading KPj's thread where he mentions having had a hamstring tear during deadlifts...

The f... @ 5 x 20 x 415 lbs. Anyway.. so, today is the day. I'm pulling 200 kg. For some reason, the smooth, even number is scaring me. It is daunting. I even slept badly and I'm pretty sure I dreamt of deadlifting and it went bad or something. I don't remember the details of the dream, but I'm sure...

Re: Gym Wish List...

Well, I wouldn't mind bumper plates, but I can do fine without them. I would love a decline bench, and I would love being allowed to use chalk. Right now, I use paper towels for my heavy lifts, heh. Gives me callouses, but it prevents slippery hands due to sweat.

Re: Sævar's log

I decided to do a heavy week after a heavy week(instead of going down in %1RM and up in reps, for size. like I do normally). This is because I'm pulling 200 kg next monday, and decided I would try to get every last bit of strength increase before that. 09-01-12 -- Monday Deadlift 1 x 08 x 70 kg 1 x ...

Re: Personal Best Log

Meh, curls are pff. I'm just worried now that you'll leave me in a cloud of dust on the deadlift highway, if you continue your pace, hehe. The internet is wonderous. I am now competing with a man I have never met or seen that possibly lives several thousand kilometers away(I'm guessing Holland due ...
