Cleans/power cleans -- lacking flexibility for proper grip

Hey guys. So I've been adding some cleans into my workout on my squat days, and even though I've only done them a few times I can clearly see and feel why people do them. The proper form seems to be to catch the bar on your shoulders by lifting your elbows as high as possible, but I simply can't see...

Re: Personal Best Log

I'm sure none of your remember me, but at any rate, decided to drop in since I may actually start to use the journal I started here. Bunch of big, life-changing $h1t been going on, but never been better! Lost some weight that I had convinced myself I didn't have to lose, and keep gaining strength an...

I would like to point out that it is nigh impossible for the account to have been 'hacked' in the most literal sense. E.g. hotmail's servers weren't exploited and his password retrieved that way; they're also immune to brute-force. What probably happened is that they phished it out of your friend, e...

My girlfriend had been doing basically "what she felt like doing" in the machine room, and then a bit of running until we took a break due to vacation and all that. When we got back, I told her that if she wanted to look more fit(She is not even close to obese or even close to 'a bit fat', but you k...

A chat with the average gym-goer

I shared the rack with a guy who squatted up to 160 kgs (350 lbs) last workout. That is by far the heaviest I've seen at our gym. He did about 5x8 too. Can't imagine what the reaction would be like if one of you 500lb+ squatters rocked up at our gym. I know what you mean. The heaviest squatter that...

its only one burger, unfortunately. I had about 1/3 lb of burger left, one egg left, and no gas for the grill, so i just fried the burger with the egg. There's also some butter in there just to get all the food groups. All 3 essential food groups, meat, eggs and butter. I was under the impression t...

Iceland's got talent

This is a video of a 17 year old fellow countryman of mine(born 1993), just barely failing to drive his hip forward to straighten his back with 292.5 kg/644 pounds. This is completely without the aid of steroids. He trains in an anti-steroid club and they're all tested regularly. Get this; he's been...

The front raise is a push if I'm not entirely mistaken -- but make sure you're doing the military press or something similar. If you are indeed doing that one, there's no real need to do the front raise. Anyway, the deadlift placement is the subject of a lot of debate. I personally simply place it s...

Isolation exercises definitely. I hardly see anyone do squats in my gym, and when I see anyone doing them, they're doing quarter or half squats. It's ridiculous. I've only see one guy do proper squats and man, he was doing proper squats . He went way deep with 240+ easily. Then there's machines.. Th...

I agree whole-heartedly even though I don't live in the USA. Your point about the hair lady is a good one -- she can only ruin your looks temporarily.

A bad personal trainer might inflict permanent damage.
