I don't like cables. I'll do the cable pulldowns but they are the most boring part of my workout (IMO). I really want to do wide grip pull-ups but they are hard. I think I have good upper back strength but my shoulders are lagging. But yeah... Cables annoy me. It doesn't make sense, but that's the w...

Re: Deadlifts - pulled lower back 2nd time in a row >.<

Thanks again for all your help! I didn't forget about this thread but I have been swamped with work and some other stuff, sorry for the lack of response... You STARTED with 10x200? You've been doing this lift for one week, and you are already to abandon it? You were only so sore that you recovered i...

are you squeezing your glutes when you stand up with the weight? that is what your supposed to do, not hyperextend your back like a cobra I'll keep an eye on it -- thanks! For right now, I'll probably take a day or two off and next back workout no deadlifts but I'll keep this all in mind once I sta...

Deadlifts aren't designed for high reps, really. Also, without seeing your form, it'd be difficult to tell you what you're doing wrong. You should never be hyperextending your back at the top of the deadlift, it's something lots of people do and it's horrible for your lower back/spinal column. I me...

Deadlifts - pulled lower back 2nd time in a row >.<

Maybe I'm just trying to do this with too much weight at first but here's the story... Little over a week ago started deadlifting. I never really had that as part of my routine before except for something I'd do only once in a blue moon. So I tried it light and figured I could do more. I was doing a...

Everyone has a different distribution of bodyfat so you may not get down to that look without doing some serious dieting. That said, it's *not necessarily healthy* for everyone to look that way. A little bit of fat is healthy and if you're around 6-7% that is very good. A lot of guys gain more fat a...

Adjust your diet so you have adequate nutrition during your workout and don't get as tired.

That would be my advice. I don't think it has as much to do with the reps/sets.

If I remember right, the guidelines said something about a minimum of 1 hour of exercise *A WEEK* This is WAY too low. I think a sedentary lifestyle with the conveniences of modern technology is more responsible than crappy food for making people fat. Adult obesity rates have increased 48 percent be...

I think the more valid comparison is 1500 calories to what your maintenance calories is, NOT to what you did before (that could be an arbitrary number and the 6000 is outrageous for your size and activity level). Lol... That's what I thought before, and after I didn't gain any weight at 3000 I took...

How do you weigh now? 1500 kcals might be sufficient or wildly insufficient.Hope that helps. I'm about 155 or so right now (5'6-5'7). Thanks for the articles -- I'll check them out! EDIT: And reading it, it's actually extremely close to what I'm already doing. I'm not so big on the supplements thou...

Would extreme cutting be bad in this case?

So I'm trying to trim off the little bit of fat I gained since I've been eating a LOT over the last couple months (I gained about 15 lbs) and it is going pretty well. I have a relatively fast metabolism anyway so it is pretty quick and easy. This makes me think... Since I'm usually having a harder t...

The caloric content is high but I can't imagine it is much different or any more healthy then mixing beef jerky with lard and throwing it in a blender Ricky, the way you put that you make it sound like a bad thing. Next thing I know is you will be telling me my fozen crunched bacon and fat on a sti...

He also says that if you can hold your breath for the whole set, go ahead and do it. i liek oxygen ;) It isn't necessarily easy to try and breathe normally when lifting heavy weights; it certainly isn't with running, either. If you can do it, I believe your autonomic nervous system is fully capable...

I give about an 80% chance it will fall off before tomorrow. No, seriously -- I think you're fine. You want to give it rest (RICE if you wanna be all gung-ho) and if it still hurts the next few days stay off it till it gets better. My best guess is you hit a part of the muscle that was somewhat weak...
