Re: Foundations of Shoulder Health

Can anyone describe how to do these YTWL's?

From what I gather, it's just a case of:

Lying prone on a bench
Lift arms to Y position
Move arms to T position
Move arms to W position
Move arms to L position
thats 1 rep

I have also heard it described with various rotations and what-not...

Improving shoulder flexibility for squats

When I do squats, I have to keep my hands a lot wider than I'd like and my wrists bend near 90 degrees and can ache for a little while after my sets... long story short I can't find a comfortable position! What sort of things should I be doing to improve my shoulder flexibility? I read about those s...

Re: Foundations of Shoulder Health

I kind of came to he same conclusion on DB rows based on a mess about today: I have decided to add in a strength focused row once a week on top of the volume work I do. I decided to load up the Hammer Strength machine and see how that felt, charting 80, 90 and 100kg to feel my way through. I could h...

Re: Foundations of Shoulder Health

KPj -whats your opinion on those Hammer Strength row machines from a strength perspective? (The one without cables or pulleys, just plate loaded). Do you think dumbell rows would suit better for a strength focused exercise?

Re: Shoulder training

For your back - lots of volume! If you have multiple grip types for your cable machine use them all. I tend to focus on using the parrallel grip that looks like a V, a wide grip lat pull down and a wide grip seated row using the lat pull down bar. Also dumbell rows, deadlifts, bent over rows and the...

Re: Full body three times a week

How would you go about pull ups in 531? Do you mean with added weight (like dangling a dumbbell between my feet)?

Re: Full body three times a week

Oscar, I think you are right - my own programming is fine! The clear identifier is the "need for a change".. the change doesnt have to be drastic, just a tweak to pull that floppy day back into line. I'm just trying to look for something better and maybe got distracted by all the good talk about ful...

Re: Full body three times a week

I dont really want to workout three times a week - I currently do a four day routine based on 531 with some accessory stuff and think I've made good progress on that routine. I just felt it was time for a change and thought a change in working days and approach to lifting would be a good move. I hea...

Full body three times a week

Ok, so I'm intrerested in giving a full-body, three times a week program a go. What sort of program would you guys recommend?

I typically try to stick to compound stuff and avoid machines other than cables and am training for strength and appearance mainly.

Re: Random Controversey Crap (Politics, etc)

About that jobseeker article from the Guardian: The "slaves" arent working without pay, they are working for less money than their colleagues. They continue to receive their jobseekers allowance ([1 million dollars] a week?) whilst developing "employable skills". They can leave "slavery" at a time o...

Re: Bret Contreras Says Deadlifts are Hamstring Dominant????

Is it normal to really feel deadlifts in your lower back? I would expect it to be normal but it also makes me wonder if i'm arching my back too much?

Re: Random crap

From someone who used to work within the banking industry - let me make you aware that there are ABSOLUTLEY NO EXPERTS IN PERSONAL FINANCE working within that field anywhere in the world. Possibly the universe. There are, however, plenty of sales people willing to talk you into what is good for them...
