In the UK we have a subsection of society we refer to as Chav's - they basically wander about towns and cities in grey adidas tracksuit bottoms blasting the worst kind of music known to man from their mobile (cell) phones. They call this kind of music Hardcore. It sounds like a child has got hold of...

I always associate eggs with toast/bread - thats gonna be the most difficult thing for me to tackle! Any ideas to offset this other than an increase in volume? Like, is any form of bread acceptible in a low/lower carb diet?

Diet Suggestion

I was reading this section of the board the other day and it made me start worrying about the quantity of carbs i consume! 1) I eat cereal (Bran Flakes) for breakfast every work day 2) Sandwich, yogurt, celery + Thai Chili sauce, potato chips/crisps for lunch 3) Varied Dinner - usually pasta twice a...

Egg - Cooking idea

Hi I used this method of preperation a few times - while it is time consuming it is a very effective twist on producing scrambled egg. It results in a similar but a slightly different texture to "traditional" methods and is definately worth adding to your repitoire: might make your egg eating experi...

The Wife doesn’t work out anywhere near as strictly as I do: she is extremely sporadic! I guess it can't hurt to go there for six months and then re-evaluate! Perhaps if I list what sort of stuff they've got and what I intend to do you guys could help me figure out a plan? Bench Press Machine - both...

I honestly can't remember - I think it was 40kg; I'm sure a pair of the heaviest is less than my bodyweight, put it that way. How far do the dumbbells go up in your gym's? Honestly, my only stumbling block here is "the wife". I'm sure i could hit this place for a quarter/half year and then sack it o...

I wouldnt be suprised if i could 1RM the heaviest dumbbells on the bench, shoulder press and bent over row right now. In fact, I dare bet i could easily do a working set on the bench given a fortnight to adjust to using dumbbells instead of a machine. The more i think about it, the more i'm swayed i...

thanks for the replies! Basically, the gym i have 'chosen' is simply due to logistics, my fiance and popularity: 1: It is on my way home from work 2: My fiance also uses it and she intends for us to use it together...lol, yeah, thats gonna happen :) 3: The other gyms in our area are overpopulated at...

Dumbbell Deadlift

Hi all,

Just wondering if you can perform a dumbbell deadlift with a similar form to a barbell deadlift? I'll be starting a new gym soon and want to build a routine around the big six and unfortunately wont have access to barbells... any ideas?

I tried this technique today: worked a charm!

Despite being applied to a machine lift, it made me realise just how much i need to focus on proper form and drill this into my muscles from the get go.

Sorry to sound like a douche here, but when you say retracting the Scapula are you talking about pulling your shoulder blades together as if forming the motion of a row? Just for clarity... I have been getting some shoulder issues (which i'm pretty sure are rotator cuff) which seemed to be triggered...
