Re: shoulder area????

Can you pin-point the exact area of your shoulder that gives you discomfort? Even marking it on a picture and posting that will be 1000 times easier than describing. You say you feel discomfort in the rear of your shoulder - but it also sound like you are describing the armpit area, but a little bit...

Re: Body Fat or posture issue

Stu, do you have the link you're refering to? I read the Robertson squat article - which was fantastic by the way! One part I always find interesting is the que to "sit back". I don't know if I do this properly (or if I even fully understand it!) so I'm going to do some box squats to figure it out a...

Body Fat or posture issue

I'm loathed to ask these questions but I fear I must: I'm 6 foot 2 and 90kg - I have a lot less fat around my waist than when I started training (properly - 16 months ago) and I know i could trim down further to improve the appearance of my waist but that isnt my goal at the moment. What has got me ...

Re: My Random Personal Training Thoughts

She's exactly right! I remember a goofy Zen phrase in a Dune book, something like: Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife — chopping off what's incomplete and saying: "Now it's complete because it's ended here." I struggle to allow something to end, particularly with my music - I write and write ...

Re: My Random Personal Training Thoughts

An unshakable confidence has always been a salesman's sharpest weapon! I think the Doc's group suggestion sounds spot on too... kind of sounds like the best PE (Gym) lesson every arranged. Nothing at all wrong with that... I bet most people can think of a PE lesson that they thouroughly enjoyed. The...

Re: What's up with rear delts?

I love facepulls - but I tend to find I still lift quite light with them. What sort of weight are you pulling for heavy?

We have a great machine at the gym which I use to do real light, focused, rear delt work. I like doing one hand rear delt work too.

Re: My Random Personal Training Thoughts

I think the name has a certain value to it... Strength Coach sounds much better than Personal Trainer and dispels the baggage it comes with.

Kenny, can you tell us how the PT model works - what the prices are etc?

Re: Random crap

The Lifter - that was exactly what I was going to say but couldnt manage to get it down and articulate before lunch so I left it! I would pay for that sort of training - I have no interest in seeing a "typical" PT, it's not what I want and it's not what I need. Advice on big lifts, tweaking said lif...

Deadlift - 140kg (308 pounds) for 4 reps

Easy too - I was a bit "ooh, it's going to be heavy" when I set up but I just ripped it off the floor!

Re: Balance, weight distribution during squats

Could it be a soleus/flexibility issue?

Could you try placing something sturdy underneath your heels - like a thick mat or plank or something; just to give you an additional inch clearance? That might help you feel the balance better. A lot of squatters wear those slanted shoes which do a better job.

Re: Deadlift

Well, you have successful had me get up, in my office and try to replicate what you are saying. I can't get my hands past my knees without my hips and ass moving. I don't see how what you are describing is even physically possible. ^^ This! I cannot replicate his movement in any way shape or form -...

Re: Deadlift

Again, I need a video, because I don't understand how you would get down to an empty bar with a straight back and not moving your hips... So this leads me to the "this thread is useless if all we are going to do is bash some guy's form advice" thought process. The guy didn't "get down" to an empty ...
