Re: Soy

After reading several articles, I have the impression that they can't even decide how much soy consumption in (some part of) the Asian population is. That wouldn't be too surprising. I keep trying to explain to my American cohorts that getting financial, economic and scientific data in China is kin...

Re: Soy

On the one hand, I'm no longer shaving my legs every day. But on the other hand, my [email protected].g!.[email protected] is less sensitive. Oscar -- you're killin' me. Bam, estrogen can cause early puberty in girls. I think if they're meant to have a flat chest, they'll just get there earlier.. When I say girls, I mean 20+ y....

Re: Soy

Here in China, shops sell fresh warm soy milk by the bowl to girls who drink it every day for breakfast hoping and praying that their flat little chests will develop into something impressive. Soy far it does not appear to be working.

Re: Starting strength

And as for the other completely nonsensical argument that newbs don't need accessory work, is that even a serious suggestion? Has anyone actually put that forward that argument? Rippetoe perhaps? Ya know, stick to the program.... I actually agree with you here but this is just down to goals. Years ...

Re: 5/3/1 Q's

I know what you mean Stu.
For instance if your main lift for the day is military press, doing pull-ups as an assist is a good combo. Bench and bent-over rows, makes sense.... etc.
For every pull do a push. It's all about balance. Excellent advice.

Re: Starting strength

Side Note: Train Like a Bodybuilder Whenever I say this, people cringe and run for cover, but there’s a method to my madness. What’s the goal of a bodybuilder? Not size or strength, but symmetry. They want their bodies to be symmetrical, from front to back and from side to side. This is how you hav...

zackly!
After 6 months of SS, it's 531 time... plenty of options to keep a lifter busy for a few years.

Re: BCAAs vs whey

Rather than start another thread I thought I'd just keep my questions with this one.... Is there a reason I would need to take whey (isolate) and BCAAs (essential, as a supplement) or can I just replace whey with BCAAs? Is it a matter of cost or is there a nutritional benefit from whey that I wouldn...

Re: About chin-up, pull-up and other

Preach! All I know is, I shall refuse to do them anymore until there is a more clear, uniformally agreed upon, official definition. I just hate getting stronger on the one hand But on the other hand, if there is no consensus on the exercise, what's the use. I think Wendler also got tired of this di...

I vote for 5-3-1 but replace assistance exercises with barbell complexes.
