When DLing there is a tendency to pull the head up on ascent. that can be rough on the neck. I've found that keeping my chest high contracts the back muscles and takes the pressure off my neck. But I see it all the time -- guys craning their necks on squats, DLs, bench and press. Also, I think you'r...

There doesn't appear to be any upper limit on how many eggs can be eaten. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1953841?dopt=AbstractPlus It appears that the liver just reduces the amount of cholestrol that it produces since enough is in the diet. That article is a little light on details... I can onl...

I don't wear a belt.
But here's an article I read awhile back when I had the same question....

@bam - Thank you for your input. I didn't know I was doing isolations with the calf raises and curls. Would shoulder presses also be considered an isolation? I would be fine with more compound exercises in my routine, but am unsure of which ones to use. Although TimD's comment OKs the routine, does...

Certain muscles will get bigger when you start off doing purely compounds - but at some point, those compounds aren't enough to illicit growth. If you're doing this for aesthetic reasons, isolation work is a must at some point. Do gymnasts do isolation work? That's a pretty horrible comparison cons...

There's a Rippetoe video called "Starting Strength" -- a companion to his epic book on form. The video shows a bunch of people being coached by Mark Rippetoe for the five basic lifts. I found the video very helpful. I think you do have to clench the glutes and core when doing squats, deads, military...

Just to share my experience... I gave up doing calf raises when I started doing 531. I just figured I wasn't going to bother with isolations.. resigned to not have big calves or big biceps. (gave up curls too.) Lo and behold, I start doing deadlifts and my calves are noticeably bigger. When I starte...

Looks like the time has come to whip out the Reverse Grip Bench Press Most people think that to develop the upper chest you need to focus on the incline bench press. A recent study however shows that muscle activity of the upper pectoralis during an incline press increased by only 5% as compared to ...

I think bent over rows could be done explosively -- but you gotta watch the back.
Perhaps the Inverted row ? (horizontal pullups like doc mentions)
