I'm a big believer in "energy math" (calories in, out). And I'm pretty sure that you can burn more calories with aerobic activity than anaerobic. (Lyle says there are studies to this effect and it would make sense...think about mechanically performing a task involving actual energy displacement, fo...

Eating raw oats won't kill you, so the literal answer is yes, you can eat raw oats. Most commercial oats are precooked. So, unless the oats specifically say they are raw, they probably aren't. I look at HIIT vs Steady State this way: Basically I'd break it down like this : If the person likes to eat more carbs, HIIT isn't a bad idea, just have to program it around lower body strength training. That's interesting. I'm a novice getting in shape after a long stint of doing nothing. I like c...

Thanks for the glute exercises. I'm going to try lots of these. My trainer assigned me glute bridges with a pilates ring. One variation, I do the bridge then squeeze the ring at the top; the other I do the bridge with the ring outside my knees and pull apart. I haven't seen anyone else at the gym do...

But I suspect my goal is a bit different from lots of the guys here who seem to have been training a while. As far a data on the "low carb vs. high carb" debates, t...

I think you'll be better off with your current approach. Congratulations on your progress to date. Thanks, stuward. I agree with pdellorto that the diet aids I've seen are all expensive. Ironman-- I've found that once you get under 20 carbs, Do you mean 20 grams of carb a day? I'm sure I eat more t...

I've been trying to lose about 1 lb/week and I'm down 18 lbs. I'm just can't help but be curious about the diet aids because a few people volunteered information at a blog I visited. I don't want to say what they told me because it may be misinformation and I also want to discover whether it turns o...
