Re: Do you prefer to chew on one side?

Definitely both sides but never think about it. If you've every had a toothache bad enough that you can't chew on one side you realize fast how tiring and unnatural it feels to keep everything in one side of your mouth.

Re: Another music question

Totally unrelated to hair metal, I need music that will help me concentrate, or at the very least, drown out noise and not be distracting. I typically need absolute silence when I need to read or concentrate, but its nearly impossible to get that at my place. So I was wondering if anyone else has t...

I'd hope that trainer is out there.
I will keep looking, it is a hard thing to find because I think most buy into the hype and are more robotic than thoughtful.
Well, as Yogi Bera said, "90% of everything is half crap."

Re: Personal Trainers

Should I just give up and listen to them and allow them to put me on their weightlifting program or should I just continue looking for a trainer who believes int he strong lifts 5x5 program? The best answer may be "seek and you shall find." Like buying a car, you may not find the match on the first...

Re: Protein Powder: What kind do you use?

I use IsoPure unflavored. It has 25g of protein per scoop, and zero carbs/fat... I figure I can get my fat and carbs from my meals. Tastes like chalk when I dissolve it in water, but I think it does its job. I think this link explains it best: http://www.fitnessatlantic.com/whey_protein_hard_facts....

Re: Setting Safety Bars

if my chin was behind the verticals, I'm not sure how I'd clear the j-hooks, and maintain form on the ascent If my chin is about 1/2" behind the leading edge of the vertical, it's about 9" to the bottom of my chest, which is where the bar goes if I keep my upper arms at 45 degrees to my torso. So I...

Re: Squating Solo

I train at home on my own and have started now concentrating on the big 5. The only thing I have problems with is squats. I'm limited in what weight I can use as I have to get the weight on and off my shoulders. At the moment it's probably not a massive problem but at some point my legs are going t...

Re: Setting Safety Bars

yeah that does make good sense I don't usually do "me too" replies, but I also kind of assumed this is how the pins work. I place myself on the bench so that my chin is behind the verticals, so if the bar drops and rolls toward my head it won't slam my chin and result in the tip of my tongue flying...

Re: Personal Trainers

Don't get hung up on how long it takes. As long as the weights go up session to session, you are getting stronger I have done this 3x and don't feel comfortable increasing the weight. I think that is a problem. Not that I couldn't but it is my comfort level with handling the weight. Sounds silly (e...

Re: Personal Trainers

The stronglifts 5x5 only took me about 35 min to complete. Not sure if I am doing something wrong? I feel like I had a good workout, muscles feels tired but.......... That is normal and fine, and it will stay short for some weeks/months to come. Reason is simple, when the weights are light you just...

Re: Personal Trainers

I had a friend who drops by on Sunday afternoons for some years now, so when I started lifting I talked about it. Sooner or later he drifted down and starting lifting as well. Both of us were very ignorant, but having fun. So why am I telling you this? Well, as both of us gradually became more serio...

Spring in New York

The hyacinths and daffodils are in bloom, tulips on the way, forsythia wrapping up. The maples have put out leaf and soon Spring lighting will turn to summer lighting.
