Re: When to change a routine?

Thanks everyone,

I think from now on I'm going to be guided much more by if I feel I'm still making gains and feeling the benfit of a particular routine, rather than being rigid and thinking I must change every x days or y weeks.

When to change a routine?

Hi, How frequently do you change your routiune? By this I mean the exercises themselves rather than the weight etc. I do a full-body weights workout every other day and up until recently have religiously changed the routine every month. I wonder whether being too strict with this means I sometimes c...

Re: Rest Days

Well I took more rest this week and felt the benefits, I've had some good sessions this week and was really able to attack it. I'll be making sure I continue taking rest from now on.

Re: Rest Days

No I do weights one day cardio the next day and then back to weights the next day and so on. I've made gains in strength and I feel bigger even though the scales haven't moved at all. But I have started feeling tired and dropped a bit of intensity in recent weeks. Since I started training about a ye...

Re: Rest Days

It's going to be tough to resist traning but I think I need to be honest and admit I'm not resting enough. I think I'll start introducing one rest day a week and see how I go.

Rest Days

How often do you guys have rest days where you don't do any exercise? For a long time now I've been training pretty much everyday doing a full body weights session for about an hour one day and then an hour long cardio session the following day and then back to weights the next day and so on.... I'v...

When to wear a belt?

I'm going to buy a weightifting belt as I'm starting to lift reasonable weight on back exercises. I was wondering if people here only wear belts on the big lifts like deadlifts, all the time or never?

HIIT Cycling

My bike does have a heart rate monitor, although it sometimes seems a little slow to respond to changes in my heart rate.

I did feel like a got a lot more out of the interval training so I'm going to stick with it, with the goal of moving more towards HIIT as my fitness improves as you suggest.

HIIT Cycling

I've been using an exercise bike for the cardio part of my training for a year and have up until now been doing a moderate slog of 35-40km (taking about 90mins). I recently decided to take a more high intensity approach (or at least up the intensity) so have tried the following. Warm Up: 5km at 50% ...

INTENSITY

Personally I think the workouts you do on the days were your not really feeling it is what can seperate you from the rest. Working out when your in the mood is easy, having the dedication to not miss a workout and do what you can on the day is what most people can't be bothered to do. If i'm doing a...

EZ Bar

Can an EZ bar only really be used for working biceps and triceps or are there movements to work other body parts that you can do?

Thanks for the advice,

I think I'll work a few super sets into my routine and see how I get on then maybe add some more.

Super sets

I was wondering what peoples views of super sets were. I'm going to add some to my routine to mix it up a bit.

Could you do a whole workout of super sets or should you just be looking to sprinkle a few in the routine?

Crunch Vs Crunch Up

It's nice when the original poster stays involved in the dialog at least to some extent.
I didn't expect my question to provoke such a response, but yes it has helped. I've now switched to doing front planks for my abs rather than crunches.

Pull Ups Leg Position

Hi, Does anyone have an opinon on the proper leg position when doing pull-ups / Chin Ups. I currently have my legs straight out in front of me at about 45 degress rather than hanging underneath me. My thinking behind this was that it would isolate the upper body more and stop me using too much leg/h...
