Re: 1RM

That is quite handy that chart.

According to 531 your 4rm is 90% of your 1rm, is this accurate? Also does anyone know your 8rm for example and so on?

Re: Not training to failure

I think it could be lots of things. Poor sleep, overtraining (there are probably several different phenomena that get lumped into this), poor diet, viral illness, depression, medication, etc., etc. I'd look at the new program to see if it really allows recovery on the big lifts, given your other ac...

Re: Not training to failure

So is being very tired 3-4 weeks into a program, and needing to take afternoon naps a sign of cns fatigue? Or just complete lack of work capacity?

Re: Not training to failure

Just curious, what do you all follow in your workouts, do you avoid training to failure on big compound lifts entirely? Like if you hit a rep record, do you leave reps in the tank so to speak? Right now I tend to warmup with bodyweight or a lighter weight, normally 2-3 sets, then I'll do 1 working s...

Re: Erick's Log Comments

Wasn't feeling it on the drive home, so I decided to punish myself for considering taking tonight off. Plus I wasn't really feeling rows... lol, now that's dedication. I'm doing similar today, I feel horrific, and bad luck for me 'cause it's deadlifts today. Your lifts are incredible, I can only ho...

Re: How Long will a 50% quad tear take to heal

I happened to tear my quad about 8 months ago, but I didn't have it splinted or anything, left it to heal/couldn't move on it for about a month, and even after that I kept tweaking it. Seems to be fine now though, as I'm squatting on it among other things. I guess I would have recovered much better ...

lmao yea, I've been getting all kinds of comments similar to those. One recent one I can remember 'Does it make you feel pumped up and strong?', I just laughed.

I just use a swiss ball mat with a can of shaving gel rolled up inside it, seems to work ok.

Re: Max Out on Squats Every Day?!

The thing with physical labour is, you tend to find the easiest way of lifting things/do what is required of you, plus you're not lifting anywhere near as much as some do in weighlifting. I mean you're not gonna try and carry say a large fridge by yourself, you find a 2nd guy or an easier method, so...

Re: Should I deload?

I think the first article had it right; 'A little knowledge is dangerous' something along those lines. Point is, the more articles you post the more I regret buying this particular brand of protein powder lol. I was starting to think that milk for me wasn't digestable but I'm not so sure now, tbh th...

Re: Should I deload?

So what you're suggesting is that protein shakes are better for before, or just after workouts and milk, because of the increased percentage of casein, is better before bed? Seems a reasonable idea. The protein powder I recently got contains 15% casein some soy and egg albumen too, I guess it's not ...

Re: Should I deload?

http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/bedtime.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; So, by that article, would it mean that taking protein shakes during the day is pointless, in terms of muscle building, unless they contained very slow digesting proteins? And maybe that protein...

Re: Should I deload?

Ok, I'll try to be more flexible with my diet and include more cals, thanks. @JungleDoc: Oh right, I had no idea really, thanks. I'll remember that next time I get some. What's the recommended daily intake of protein shakes? This one says 2-3 servings, 2 scoops make 1 serving which equals 40g of pro...

Re: Should I deload?

That product is not purely whey protein isolate , and they've put soy protein in there as well. Google "whey protein isolate vs concentrate" to get the idea. Basically: Whey protein isolate is best, all others go downhill from there. Also google "biological value chart proteins" something like that...
