Re: Progressing...

I didn't mean that... I'm pretty sure I didn't even imply that... I just meant I'm happy doing low rep sets as part of a strength routine. I was trying to plan a body building type routine, ordinarily doing 8-12 rep sets of less weight instead, and more isolation exercises, etc. I can't seem to iron...

Re: Progressing...

I think I'm going to have to hit the books on this one: :study:. At the moment, I'm thinking it will be easier to follow Texas Method or something similar, rather than picking exercises for each muscle group in a three-way split and doing that. Most of these programs seem to do three non-consecutive...

Re: Progressing...

Not sure how detailed the answer to that needs to be, but I'm interested in gaining strength and, to a lesser extent, size. I like to do accessory work, though. Never really tried explosive movements.

Edit: About 1.5g/kg protein.

Re: Progressing...

Yeah, as I said originally, I spent about 12 months doing the single-work-set thing. Assuming I want to do more than a single set, how do I spread a three-day or four-day split out over the week to actually allow enough recovery so that I'm not still terribly sore when the next cycle comes around? I...

Re: Progressing...

Oh dear. I was thinking as in A=Pull, B=Push and C=Legs... as in Push on Monday, Pull on Wednesday, etc... I guess something is wrong with my nutrition then... what I am saying is that I could not do 3-5 sets of each exercise as in Monday pull, Tuesday push, Wednesday legs, Thursday rest, Friday pul...

Re: Progressing...

@Jungle: That pretty much nailed it, thanks. So, training consecutive days with more than one set per exercise is too much, hence the problems... I will try adding in rest days, so that I'm doing AxBxCxx or something similar. But more frequent often times produces better results, but as you get stro...

Re: Progressing...

Sorry for causing confusion! Yeah, I have tried doing additional sets already. I did 2-3 work sets of most exercises on an ABCX cycle. When that didn't work, I tried bench, press, squat and DL with 5/3/1 along with accessory work. I was constantly very sore, and didn't make any gains. Sometimes, I s...

Re: Progressing...

To add a bit more before you've even had a chance to reply:

I just checked some of the other threads and it seems people are doing Mon-Tue-Wed-Thurs type thing and taking the rest of the week off. Any thoughts on whether this is better/worse?

Progressing...

Hey! I've visited this site about a million times to check form and learn new exercises - thanks for the great resource. I'll try to make this short so you don't get bored. I wanted work out some details as what kind of program to spend the next 12 months doing. I spent the previous 12 months doing ...
