Re: Goals for 2014
Yeah, it may be a little too much maybe? I don't know, I've never lifted this heavy before... The trainer at my gym told me that I was much more stronger than I thought and I could hit past a 1000 total within a month with just a little more mental toughness. I did get those totals for each lift on ...

Re: 5x5 routine, overtraining?
If you are just beginning and still working with low weights, SS or other programs like it are good. Once you get into the heavier weights though you'll want to move on to a more intermediate program. For me, the heavier weights occurred when I was getting around 240 lb squat. Squatting that weight ...

Re: Goals for 2014
1) 1200 or more total on the three big lifts. Current best is an even 900; 330 Squat, 345 Dead, & 225 Bench. 2) Ability to do three sets of 10 pull ups. Current best is none. I have to use bands to assist in completing my pull ups/chins. 3) Drop under 200 lb. Currently hovering around 225 - 240 lb's...

I'll take liberty and loosely quote Mr. Rippetoe on this one...
Any type of workout glove that matches the color of your purse is good.

Re: Ultimate Long-Term Weightlifting Plan
Step 2 as early as possible. Mind you, not a rigorous training program but more of a fun thing to get them used to using their muscles. Step 3 is really not that simple though. As stated, children as young as 7 years should or can be introduced to weight training. I wouldn't start them off with a st...

Re: Ultimate Long-Term Weightlifting Plan
Also, the starting strength routines really aren't that geared towards repeating after graduating to the heavier weights. Doing squats three times a week plus DL'S sometimes twice a week with heavy weights is a recipe for wearing a body down. **Edit** Well... now that I think of it. The beginner pro...

Re: Ultimate Long-Term Weightlifting Plan
No strength training until puberty is finished has sort of fallen by the wayside these days... Most now support supervised and careful weight training as early as 7 years old. Mind you, I'm not taling about throwing an olympic bar with 45's on each side for squatting purposes at age 7, . I've ...

Re: Rate my diet
As far as your veggie intake. Whenever I talk to a dietician or 'fitness guru' they get all giddy when I tell them I eat a 1 lb bag of steamed veggies once for lunch and once for dinner. I would at least increase that. The $0.99 steam bags with 1 lb of veggies at your local grocery store works prett...

Re: Upper/lower routine
What do you guys think of this? I was answering your question above. The program still builds mass and keeps you doing the main lifts with more frequency than with your suggested program. I apologize for not answering the other questions you had. Is the nautilus tbar machine as good as using a barb...
