Re: Nice to "Meat" You...

@robert- Although a big guy, I have never been a fan of most "junk foods." What I'm starting to do, however, is reconsider the term, in the sense that junk food isn't only like chips, cookies and soda etc., but also foods that can be unhealthy for me (especially in bulk). And I cook everything from ...

Re: Nice to "Meat" You...

............... More breakdown time =D Nick, one other book I want to recommend it "the Warrior diet" by Ori Hofmekler. It's not "low carb" so much as real food but the big thing is "when" to eat. The basics is to undereat during the day, eating until you're satisfied once a day, in the evening. Ove...

Re: Nice to "Meat" You...

Thanks for the quick response! I recommend you read "The Paleo Solution" by Robb Wolfe. "The Paleo Diet" by Cordain has been recently been updated. If you read the first edition, ignore it. He was anti-saturated fats and has since softened hi position. Saturated fated, especially Steric Acid can boo...

Nice to "Meat" You...

Terrible pun thread name oh yeah  Okay on to business, I've been doing some research and it has been hard to find reputable sources, so what would you guys say are some of the healthiest/best meats to eat regularly? More specifically, I'm making the transition to a carb-restricted diet to l...

Re: not another thread about Bench Press feet up vs down

All- I do agree, putting your legs up on the bench makes you unstable and it always worries me when I see people doing it. With that being said, the benches on the gym I attend have a bar by the foot of the bench which is slightly raised off the ground. Placing my feet on there takes away the arch i...

Re: The "Balanced Body"

http://exrx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .net/WeightTraining/LowBack.html (not allowed to post links, put it all together) The squat uses the lower back isometrically, I rechecked the squatting page as well and from what I can remember my form was good, so it wasn't that. Trust me ...

Re: The "Balanced Body"

Well I've recently had some low back issues. Nothing too too serious, but I'm trying to be careful about agitiating it, while still working it to build strength and hopefully not have to deal with back problems for a very very long time.

Re: The "Balanced Body"

@ironman, @hoosegow, My leg routine as of now is: Quads: Leg Press Quads 2: Seated Leg extension Hammy's: Seated Leg Curl Hammy's 2: Straight Leg deadlift Then Calves, abs, and obliques (kind of in limbo right now, trying to find the best excercise for me for each). Originally, I had tried for my "q...

Re: Where does everyone work?

Currently a student entering my last year at Binghamton University (in upstate New York). Electrical Engineering Major. For this summer I am an intern at BAE Systems in Johnson City (about 5 minutes away from my campus). A lovely position where I sit at my desk for about 9-9.5 hours a day. Thankfull...

Re: The "Balanced Body"

Yeah, after about a month or so I intend on switching to squats. For now my big concern is my lower back and hamstrings. On leg days I am also doing straight leg deadlifts, I am starting off fairly light so I can build up my lower back. When I switch excercises I will also find another hamstring exc...

Re: The "Balanced Body"

Thanks for the quick response! After posting I sort of realized the flaw in my question. You are right, depending on muscle fibers, body type, etc. there's no way to determine a wholistic dtandard for this sort of thing (in the vein of most topics of weight training; everyone's different). In additi...

The "Balanced Body"

Note: First post! I've been an avid user of exrx for the past 3-4 weeks, love everything on the site. Good to finally be a part of the forums. On to business... I have been lifting on and off for about 3-4 years now (in the early goings mostly off...) so I do have some experience and can lift a dece...
