What if one leg is less "developed"? I cant tell if one leg is weaker than another, but my left hamstring is visibly larger and more developed than the right. My right calf is also larger and more developed than my left one. While I'm far from being a "physique" athlete, the imbalance kinda bothers ...

Kinda think so. Was introduced to it at an Obon festival. I tried it out of curiosity and thought "Wow! Not bad...but just totally wrong!"

From what you've written so far I think maybe I'm leaning too far forward (I always try to go for a flat back parallel to the floor) and too wide of a grip. I'll try your 45 degree suggestion with a clean grip, see how that goes.
