Re: questioning safe technique

In general, in a Crossfit gym technique like that isn't just allowed but encouraged. Some get away with it but many don't. Those who don't normally get told they're not "hardcore" enough.

I would advise you went to another gym, to be honest. Unless they allow you to do it your own way.

Re: Sympathy Recomp 2013

Thanks!! The 81-82kg was actually a couple of years ago. Was towards the end of a very difficult year personally, plus almost a full year of no squats and DL's due to injury - I'm one of these people who struggle to eat well when my training isn't going well. The 88-89KG was about october last year....

Re: Sympathy Recomp 2013

Here's my progress. After pic was taken 4-5 weeks ago. Since then i've been more casual, ate more carbs etc although i've maintained it pretty well. Weighed myself lastnight and still 79KG. My approach has been kinda half-assed. After my next comp i'm going to really dial it in, actually count calor...

Re: Hip Abduction/Adduction Exercises (How Many Sets?)

If the sports doctor recommended leg press as an alternative due to a herniated disc then the best advice I could give you is find another sports doctor.

Re: Personal Best Log

now Kenny, don't let those magazines pressure you into starving yourself down to a size 0. men like real women :laughing3: I actually feel bigger, keep getting told that, too. I've got leaner since my competition in March yet my b/w is literally exactly the same. After my next comp i'm going to rea...

Re: Personal Best Log

Back Squat. 172.5KG / 380lbs x 2.

Was only supposed to be 1 but it felt too good. Never had more than one rep with anything over 155kg / 340lbs.

B/W was 80kg / 175lbs

Re: Random crap

Training working eating sleeping :) I have a few things coming but, as they always do, they're coinciding with all sorts of other things, namely the changes in the gym (which may involve doing more courses/certifications). However I have an OL certification I really want to do, and there's a powerli...

Re: Random crap

It does seem to go in cycles. I still visit very regularly. Things are finally coming to a head in my gym. Hopefully for the good. I've been holding fire on quitting-the-day job because, almost 2 years ago it was announced that our company had 500million of debt. About a year ago, maybe more it went...

Re: Random crap

My former client, current training partner, and fellow powerlifter has been selected to be part of the Scottish Team for the 4 nations competition this year (Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, for those who don't know what that means). Exciting stuff and very proud moment. Not bad for havin...

Re: Sympathy Recomp 2013

Interestin'. I probably explained wrong but, the late night feast is something i've adapted to now. It was more a product of working and not having a chance to eat anything for at least 4-5 hours. Late at night is one of my prime times to eat, i've adapted to eating loads at that time now - put away...

Re: Sympathy Recomp 2013

Bob - how are working your IF? I've been flirting with the 16/8 protocol. Kind of half a$$ed attempt whilst I get my head around it more however i'm struggling to find the time to get my head around it more. Biggest reason is it fits my lifestyle very well. I've realised my lifestyle has forced me t...

Re: High intensity advisable with every exercise?

It almost sounds like it's being implied that strength training will eventually hurt you, and especially if you're a little wiser in your years. If that's what's being said then I respectfully disagree. There's an issue of semantics, though - what do we mean by "heavy weights" ? Also, we all have an...
