Yes, they stimulate but don't recruit new fibers which is the key to getting stronger and increase the ability to apply force.

Re: Evalute My Workout

If your looking to add some power to your back side then should do lifts that increase power , the olympic lifts do just that. Olympic lifts are technical movements that are based on your squat or deadlift max. They aren't heavy enough to recruit fast twitched fibers. They somewhat increase rate of...

Re: Bret Contreras Says Deadlifts are Hamstring Dominant????

do glute thrusts But asking what the DL hits is not the same thing as asking what part of your anatomy will dominate in a spring or DL. Ex, your DL levers may hit the hamies more, that doesnt mean you'll hit the hammies more when you sprint You may understad that and this just gets tangled becasue ...

Yea, but the strength is applicable to force production during sports.

Re: Belt usage

I don't use belts because I want my core to handle my legs. I'd rather use a weight I can control on my own anyways.

Re: Evalute My Workout

You'd be better off with free weights. REally, we don't know how to evaluate your workout, because our standard response is, reduce the number of exercises, cut the duplication, simplify, simplify, simplify. None of that seems to apply to you. I also agree with keeping assistance. It, ah, assists. ...

Re: Evalute My Workout

Olympic lifts might be beneficial if you're a sprinter. Worldclass weightlifters have higher acceleration speeds than worldclass sprinters, they're faster in the 40m sprint. (you said you run at high speeds, so I assumed your a sprinter) Yea, but I figure that limb speeds generated in the weight ro...

Re: Evalute My Workout

why lever front squat and not barbell? I assume you have no rack? Also, I don't think you should ever drop the assistance, just get better at it, but otherwise looks pretty good to me. I figure the lever squat would be a nice break from the heavy loading you get from deadlifting. Am I limiting myse...

Re: Bret Contreras Says Deadlifts are Hamstring Dominant????

As robertscott says, couldn't individuals differ? Specifically, i'm thinking the amount you have to bend your knees would be a significant factor. Somebody who can't touch their toes is going to have a lot less knee flexion (and therefore hamstring involvement) than somebody who can do that yoga po...

Yes, but the glutes should always dominant. The hamstrings will quickly tire if they dominant hip extension.

Bret Contreras Says Deadlifts are Hamstring Dominant????

When Bret Contreras did his emg studies, he concluded that hamstrings are the top contributors in the conventional style deadlift while other sources including ExRx state the glutes are the target musle. Could it be the Glute Guy has stronger hamstrings than his glutes causing his hamstrings to perf...

Quad Dominant or Bull S. Dominant?

There is all this stuff going around explaining that if one has strong quads relative to their posterior chain it is an absolute must that they do all kinds of hip thrust, deadlifts, etc.. to restore the balance. This seems logical, but to me it also makes sense that a person with a weak posterior c...
