Re: Starting Strength/StrongLifts rip-off

Most of the people doing bench are doing so lazily, and most programming for bench is done by lazy trainers. Nobody wants to take the time to actually coach it properly, and just as importantly, nobody wants to take the time and effort to do all the pulling necessary to earn benching. It doesn't rep...

Re: Random crap

That is the value of strength training and strength training with free weights. That is what can be achieved with smart programming for the right person and consistent hard work. i'm not saying every one who lifts needs to actually doing this, but knowing you have the ability to do so if needed is ...

Re: Looking for feedback regarding my routine :)

You're doing too much pushing and not enough pulling. Also, I'm not sure I understand doing bodypart splits for anyone that isn't a bodybuilder? Do biceps really need two dedicated exercises after being synergists or stabilizers for three? Has a pumped bicep ever saved somebody's life or pulled a ba...

Re: Gun Control

However, with a gun, the same little, old lady becomes a formidable oponent. A firearm is a great equilizer. I'm going to restate that I don't believe gun control is an effective means to curb violence, but this is asinine. As I pointed out in the previous thread the actual number of random victims...

Re: cable upright shoulder internal rotation - why not?

yeah it was news to me too. ERic Cressey's written a bit about it I've seen him write about the importance of activating the subscap, especially in bench press "fanatics," but have only seen him write about direct strengthening work on the external rotators in both abduction and adduction. BUT I ca...

I've seen lots of people with dysfunctional subscaps, but I've never had a chiropractor or osteopath refer me someone with a weak subscap. But that's exclusively MY mileage.

Re: cable upright shoulder internal rotation - why not?

The Diesel Crew Shoulder Rehab Protocol does have one round of internal rotation exercises as a part of the workout if I recall correctly. The reason that external rotation exercises have such a dominant role vs. internal rotation exercises is that the rotator cuff muscles are stabilizers more than ...

Re: stretching vs neural activation

Sitting for 8-12 hours a day shortens the hip flexors and stretches the gluts. If your gluts are being stretched for 8+ hours a day, how will stretching the hips for 30 seconds balance out that equation effectively? Even rigourous SMR isn't going to be able to outpace the damage done by 8 hours in a...

Re: Row frequency

Since our modern world has us spending so much time in flexion as it is, your pull frequency should always be greater than your push frequency. You might be better served by focusing on rear delts and lower traps than just rows though, since those areas are often neglected and underdeveloped.

Re: 5/3/1 and questions

Im on 5/3/1 also. Its great for squat and dl with minimal assistance but bench and press seems to stall with BBB. After i started doing some chest work on press day it seems to go up again. Going to see after next cycle if ill stall again or keep on rocking :) I do alot of arm, delt and upper-back a...

Does anyone else hate bulking as much as I do? You take perfectly good foods and have to eat so much of them that they cease to be pleasant treats and become soul-crushing slogs.
