Chinup Challenge, 2013

and that is a no. Too sweet. Bring in some vinegar, leave the rootbeer (maybe for a sauce component) low and slow. I'd guess that Canadian soda and American soda would taste different, HFCS being a bit sweeter than glucose/fructose. Nonetheless it still seems a popular recipe in the US; you may not...

post your recipe
Marinate for 24 hours in root beer and Jack Daniels, slow cook for 8 hours minimum, serve with chipotle mayo (real easy to make). Often I'll have it with grown up root beer floats (aka ice cream and whiskey).

[email protected]+4 pounds I realize that sounds like a victory, even if modest, but I was planning on gaining more weight than that. However the missus and I booked a trip to Vegas at the end of next month that includes a couple pool parties, so if I wanna see her in a bikini I can't be making my famous pulled...

Re: exercises without pressure on wrist

"pressure on wrists" is pretty generic. The loads specific to an overhead press vs. a curl vs. an internal rotation are hugely different. You could always just tie a theraband to his forearms…

Re: Introduction and program/diet review

I'd reverse your diet strategy. Worry less about cutting out the junk, and start with adding the vegetables. You're not in serious need of weight loss, so I'd worry about establishing healthy habits before trying to kick your bad habits. After six months of good lifting progression and eating more v...

eh? What were you trying to get her to do? She's quite a new client (7 weeks). When she deadlifts she has a very loose upper back, wants to round forward (even with a neutral lower back) and shove her shoulders way infront of the bar. The problem in that case is not firing up the lats. Usual cues d...

Re: Comment my deadlift form

One of the issues with a super light weight is that you can't learn to bend into the bar. With a heavy bar you can start bending into the bar while pushing your chest up, pressing into the floor and building tension in your hamstrings, glutes and thoracic extensors. With a light weight you're just p...

Re: Questions about my workout

keep a rather slender physique instead of building masses of muscle... like looking normal in clothes but looking muscular without them. I'm wondering if this might be at the core of why you're less inclined to lift heavier and with lower reps. Building mounds of muscle is less a product of lifting...

2. What are the most effective ways to hit/improve the rotator cuff and the infraspinatus? (just found out the infraspinatus is in the rotator cuff). Mike Reinold is a big advocate of the W exercise for the infraspinatus, as well as balancing upper and lower trap recruitment. I would suppose low to...

Re: Mobility (again)

Echoing what KPj is saying, I rarely find a tissue issue in the lower back (or hamstrings) that would necessitate soft tissue work. From a pain relief perspective, I'd rather you use tennis balls. Give this a whirl, try and figure out if your pain is extension or flexion related, and then see if the...

I don't disagree with you, Kenny. I don't even disagree with Gray. I just think tell but don't show smacks of either crass commercialism or glib braggadocio.
