Re: Sumo-Deadlifts or conventional Deadlifts?

I just wanted to give a little feedback from my last sessions... After resetting the weight, as I mentioned above, and all the input I got from this thread, I tried to control myself better and tried to use the "RPE-System" to help me, instead of chasing for rep-records. The last squat-day (5/3/1-we...

Re: Sumo-Deadlifts or conventional Deadlifts?

I prefer Conventional Deadlifts for two reasons: 1) Sumo Deadlifts feel a lot like a wide, shallow squat. They work the same muscle groups in a similar way. Conventional Deadlifts have a different emphasis. Including them in my program along with squats and other lifts makes me a more versatile/ we...

Re: Sumo-Deadlifts or conventional Deadlifts?

Thanks for explaining these things to me! I won`t defend the theories other people put on the internet, though. In case you are interested: http://www.powerliftingtowin.com/powerlifting-technique-deadlift-form/ I think that was the article (but he wrote several on his homepage, concerning tec...

Re: Sumo-Deadlifts or conventional Deadlifts?

Thanks again, Kenny. What I really meant was, really doing sumo-deadlifts instead of conventional deadlifts (as a main lift). I`ve always been the opinion that conventional deadlifts were the way to go for my goals (staying healthy, developing strength, fighting any muscular dysbalances I might have...

Re: Sumo-Deadlifts or conventional Deadlifts?

Thank you very much for your input, Kenny. I feared its really just about me being more disciplined when doing deadlifts...

May I ask you about the idea to substitute deadlifts with sumo-deadlifts (at least for the heavy work). Could this be a good alternative for me?

Sumo-Deadlifts or conventional Deadlifts?

I have a question concerning the deadlift. Recently I had the problem in my training that my lower back (slightly) rounds when doing heavy deadlifts or doing more repetitions doing a set. I still do 5/3/1 and reached a point, where the chase for rep-records or AMRAP-sets got me to do one or two reps...

Re: bench press for old guys

And I always thought the DB Bench Press is often recommended to be able to realize a bigger ROM because the barbell would stop the movement when touching the chest. If thats the case, what would that mean for the "tendons and joints in the shoulders"? ;) I think the question is more about doing the ...

Re: Full body split for my girlfriend

Day 2 I would rather do: Deadlifts 3x5 Press 3x5 Chin up or Lat Pulldown 3x5 Or: Squats 3x5 Press 3x5 Deadlifts 1x5 Progression seems o. k. ... but why don`t you try to progress with 2,5kg sets across (or later half of it) as long as it works? I think it`s o. k. to train only 2x/week if the schedule...

Re: uneven development of left and right side of body

...But why should I stop doing the exercise when movement gets uneven? Because at that moment the stronger side takes over and helps the weaker side (with barbells). Or with dumbells you want to train the weaker side and just maintain the stronger side, so you stop when form breaks on the weaker si...

Re: Starting a cut, need advice

@ s3v3ns Lets assume you are correct about your body fat level (most "measurements" aren`t really that close to reality), you will probably need a more intelligent aproach to loosing fat, than someone with a higher body fat level and perhaps being a beginner concerning weight training. You should co...

Bodyweight Dips aren`t possible? Perhaps this will help a bit with your tennis elbow: http://www.eatmoveimprove.com/2009/08/on-tendonitis/ Concerning your question about how much chest and shoulders are involved when doing CGBP... I won`t guess or give an opinion... ;) I`d rather ask why you don`t a...

...And before you suggest me to use dumbbells instead of barbell when doing exercise - I AM doing that. That doesn`t matter, if you happen to do it the wrong way... Any advice? Thank you. Concentrate on proper form (doesn`t matter which version: barbells or dumbbells) and stop when the movem...
