Re: 1-arm dumbbell row proper form, overworking the shoulder

For someone not so familiar with the english language... "dropping" the shoulder doesn`t mean to let loose at the bottom? Your English is perfect. :smile: To get the drop on drop, go here and scroll down to the transitive verb 4 a : to lower or cause to descend from one level or position to another...

Re: 1-arm dumbbell row proper form, overworking the shoulder

If dropping the shoulder during a one-arm dumbbell row is improper form, exrx site management might want to correct this: http://exrx.net/AnimatedEx/BackGeneral/DBBentoverRow.gif The exerciser allows his shoulder to drop at the bottom, but returns to neutral at the top - no rolling of the torso to h...

Re: How do you feel about using straps

@jjoseph:

Try wearing gloves first. If that doesn't work, then use the straps - and work on improving your grip.

Re: DeadLift always gives Hip pains.

Deadlifts are my favorite exercise - and the doorway that led me from distance running to weight training. Because I was tall and thin with long limbs (and no upper body strength), bench presses were never a good exercise for me. Squats were a problem, too. But an old-timer at my gym taught me how t...

Re: Bench press is worst chest excercise?

Don't feed it. On this post excore didn't come across as a troll. Too early to write him off as a member of this board EDIT: Sorry hoose, you were right and I was wrong about excore - this morning, he posted some nonsense and stuward gave him a straight answer. Excore's response? He posted the same...

Re: Bench press is worst chest excercise?

@excore: "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is." -Yogi Berra No offense, but your posting looks like something someone who spends more time in the library than the gym would write - theory versus practice. If isolation exercises are superior to compound ...

Re: Bench press is worst chest excercise?

So many people with shoulder problems its not even funny. Does that mean if tennis players and baseball pitchers drop bench presses from their training routines they won't develop shoulder problems? C'mon - guy's a troll. Maybe excore will write a book on his exercise theories and become an exercis...

Re: Is squat and deadlift replacable trough isolation?

Putting an untrained person on a routine made up of isolation exercises is a sure-fire recipe for increasing muscular imbalances in his body. The result of this is a body that is all show and no go. To a couch potato, any routine is better than no routine. So, if his goal is to look good sitting on ...

Re: Hamstring imbalance

@senorpancho: What's your advice for getting R and L leg from where they are (different in strength) to where they will perform the same? High reps? Lower intensity (the left is already at a lower intensity, the right is maxed)? Keep in mind that the single-leg deadlift is an assistance exercise to ...

Re: Hamstring imbalance

Any thoughts? Well, jealousy for one - you have me by 150# on my best deadlift and 165# on my best squat. Good job. :thumbright: Other than that - do you run or climb stairs a lot? Some people favor one hamstring/calf combo when climbing stairs over another. A reach, I know, but it's the only thing...

Re: Hamstring imbalance

@senorpancho:

Try doing one-legged deadlifts:

If one leg is noticeably weaker than the other, you have to incorporate unilateral (one legged) training in your routine until the weaker leg is brought up to par.

Re: protein shakes?

@abacoian: In the short term, drinking a post-workout shake made up of a fast-acting protein (like whey) and a high-glycemic index carb (like glucose) will help you make faster gains in your muscular strength and size. Long term, though, drinking a shake after a workout appears to offer little if an...

Re: Should I stop deadlift+squat (constant lowback strain pa

I Just turned 30 years but I've been doing powerlifting (3lifts) like 6 months. Well, that shoots down my hunch that you're an older lifter who is taxing his body too much and too fast with heavy lifting. :red: Thing is that I can lift with sumo lot more weights than conventional if I want to keep ...

You're using a good amount of weight in your lifts.

Just curious - how old are you?
