Well, let's remember that there is both muscle size, and muscle strength. So size isn't the only variable, unless you're talking about what's discernable in a picture. But yeah, it is possible to isolate the long or short head, vary the width of your grip on a barbell and you'll see a difference (ov...

Merc, you said you were training to be a police officer right? I'm wondering what your motivation is, because these numbers are all very impressive. Way to go!

Well, unless you don't have the equipment for squatting, there is no good reason to not squat. Squatting is one of the best exercises for the body, and while I love deadlift, both is much more effective than only one.

Someone posted this (to me maybe?) elsewhere before, you should take a read through, it boils down (I think,) to 8 or fewer = strength 8-10, maybe as many as 12 = size more than 10 = muscle endurance, why would you want muscle size without strength anyway? it's much cooler to be able to lift heavy $...

DubDub- obviously you know your body alot better than i do, but im kinda wondering why you did that 155x8 set before the 205? If thats your warmup set, have you ever tried doing multiple warmup sets at smaller reps? Like 3 or 4 progressively heavier?Ive just found with myself if that first work set...

Why I'm sure it can be shown scientifically that sternal is much more potentially capable, it depends on how you work out, especially for beginners. If all you do is incline bench then the clavicular head will become stronger than the sternal one, it isn't by necessity weaker.

Well even though I'm feeling well under the weather, I posted a new pb in squat this afternoon: 1s 3r 295lbs I would have attempted a pb in deadlift, 1s 5r 295lbs, but instead cut my workout short because I wasn't feeling good. Hopefully I'll be fully healthy in time for my next legs/back day, then ...

Lower body, still feeling a little ill, so I cut it short: squat: 1s 8r 185 1s 6r 205 1s 5r 255lbs 1s 4r 265lbs 1s 4r 275lbs 1s 3r 285lbs 1s 3r 295lbs deadlift: 1s 5r 185lbs 1s 5r 205lbs 1s 5r 245lbs at which point I shut it down, my blood was pumping really fast and my breathing was labored (sore/c...

Best of luck with your surgery and future training, that's really tough man. Having suffered at most only a minor lower back injury during my (admittedly, short) lifting career, I can't imagine what you've gone through. I get impatient if I miss the gym more than two days in a row, to be sidelined f...

I would put deadlift on your legs day since meshes very well with squats. But I think what you've designed looks really good. Minor question: is this a 5-day rotation? or do you just workout 5-times per week and take weekends off? You should have some days off too... (if you don't already have them,...

Well I've never considered it, but I suggest doing the proper research first, try a google search, maybe ask one of the trainers at your gym what their opinion is, also, creatine has many commercial uses, make sure if you go for it that you're getting creatine engineered to help with weight loss (as...

Re: Equation

Yea and hear is an easy way to find out ur bench max ( I found this out a few months ago and maybe a few of u ppl know it). Ur bench max= 2(sum of both weights when repping dumbell chest presses) ex. if u dumbell chest press (rep) with 60 pounds in each hand 60+60=120 and 120 times 2= 240. So ur be...

Good news and bad news: I still weigh 186 pounds after my recent bout of sickness (which isn't quite over) and my five finals over the last four days (which are!!!). But I wasn't in great shape to work out today because I can't really breathe deep (or I start hacking... not attractive). Anyway, I ga...

Thanks, I'm glad for the info, the reason why I pause is to
a) make sure I get full range of motion (it is called deadlift, i.e. from a dead standstill)

and (relatedly) b) to make sure I'm not bouncing the weight.
