measure your body fat, cheapest most reliable is 7 point calliper, more accurate is the dunk thingy. Scales suck and so do most "gadgets". Anyway: Scale Weight x BF% = Body Fat weight ; Scale Weight - Body Fat Weight = Lean mass weight (of course this include organs and bones, but you can't really g...

I'm not aware that eating lots of protein will cause problems with the liver or kidneys. I think most of the research has been done on people with pre existing liver and kidney problems and that too much protein for them exhaserbates the existing problems by taxing these organs. So if you have a pro...

Well, I'm just a begginer (3 months) when it come to resistance training, but the only time I can make myself sore post workout anymore is when I miss 3 or 4 days in the gym. Most of the time I trin to or near failure, I feel the burn during the exercises and I don't think this is avoidable, plus I ...

I see, but when your lifting groceries or kicking a ball, your supposed to think about lifting the groceries or kicking ball, not contracting the bicept or quads. Still I can see where this might tie into doing too many isolated exercises and not enough compound exercises. So maybe doing something l...

Here's how I do it, but I try to combine cardio and HIIT... sorta: 15 minutes at 80% MHR (about 150 bpm for me) HIIT Session: 30seconds medium intensity (on eliptical cycle lvl 5-7ish) 30seconds all out (on eliptical cycle I push the resistance up so I'm not out pedaling the machine) repeat for desi...

reguardless, its stil better to have veggies in the diet. For one, its a hellova lot cheaper to fill in some calories with fresh veggies vs. buying 3000-5000 (depending on activity level) calories worth of meat and fish. Just because something is possible doesn't mean its optimal or even recommended...

I've heard this before and think it's probably valid. What I wonder is how adaptation plays in. After 6 months of doing tihs will you still see the same improvement, or will the benefits become marginal because your body is used to doing it this way now?

I got started a bout 3 months ago. A good friend of mine, who we used to call wisp, seemingly disappearded for about 4 months. When he finally showed back up he had put on about 30lbs and was all cut. We call him Latman now. Anyway, he bet me $100 he could help me get the fat off and keep it off. I ...

I'd second the switch the HIIT vs. Straight Cardio. I currently do about 15 minutes of straight moderate intensity cardio followed immediately by a HIIT session, then a 10 minute cooldown. I'll also second keeping the food log so you KNOW where you are in the nutrition dept. The cleaner and closer t...

yes well, I doubt you eat as much fish and berries. I also doubt you are a over 100 years old. Evolution has changed everyone and your are not an ancient Inuit. While the Inuit your article discusses may not have ate the volume of veggies he should have (or COULD have) he also probably had a shorter...
